What prompted Trump to want to return and hold another rally at the location where he was almost killed by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks? His post revealed he is going to hold a rally in honor of former firefighter Corey Comperatore who died in the shooting on July 13. The post did not reveal information concerning the location or date for the rally, only telling followers to “Stay tuned for details.”

Along with Comperatore, Crooks shot and injured David Dutch and James Copenhaver after opening fire from the roof of a building located near the rally, with one of his bullets grazing the right ear of the former president.

A report from Fox News has revealed that Copenhaver is still battling for his life due to the injuries he sustained during the failed assassination attempt on Trump, according to information shared by his family in a statement given to the media.

“The Copenhaver family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support for James ‘Jim’ as he recovers from the injuries that he tragically sustained during President Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024,” his family explained in their update on Copenhaver. “Jim would like to especially thank the first responders, medics, and hospital staff who have provided him with initial and continuing care. Additionally, Jim would like to express his thoughts and prayers for the other victims, their families, and President Trump. He prays for a safe and speedy recovery for them all.”

Joseph Feldman, a spokesperson representing the victim’s family and attorney who works for the Law Offices of Max C. Feldman, spoke with Fox and revealed that Copenhaver is in critical, but stable condition, referring to him as a “tough guy.”

“A CBS News analysis found that the gunman fired eight rounds in under six seconds before he was shot and killed by a United States Secret Service sniper. On Thursday, Trump announced a July 31 rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It will be his first time back in Pennsylvania after the attempted assassination,” CBS News went on to report.
