After former President Donald Trump sustained injuries during a shooting at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, one UFC fighter took a moment post-victory to shout out to the former president following the alleged assassination attempt.
According to the Secret Service, the assailant fired from an elevated position outside Trump’s rally venue, and was eventually neutralized by agents after firing multiple shots at the 2024 frontrunner. Trump appeared to be hit in the ear, but got up shortly after and yelled “fight” to the crowd. His resilience didn’t go unnoticed.
Evan Elder, a rising star in the UFC, secured a win by submission against Darrius Flowers during Saturday’s preliminary card. Following his win, Elder didn’t hesitate to use his platform to express his support for Trump.
“Hey, I heard they just tried to whack my boy Trump. I’m glad that man’s okay. Long live Trump! Let’s go baby Trump 2024!” Elder yelled and received a roaring applause.

The connection between the UFC and Donald Trump is well-documented, rooted in a longstanding friendship between Trump and UFC President Dana White. White, who has previously spoken at multiple Trump rallies, was reportedly scheduled to appear at the Republican National Convention this week, just before Trump would take the stage.
Saturday’s incident at Trump’s rally is currently under investigation, with details still emerging about the perpetrator and his motives. Rumors have circulated that Trump might even attend the event later in the evening, a move that would certainly stir both support given the day’s earlier events.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump wrote on Truth Social hours after the shooting. “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
