A 70-year-old, transgender-identifying public defender has captured the attention of social media after this individual appeared in court representing a far left activist—but the attorney's strange appearance has received far more consideration than the details of the case

Attorney Stephanie Mueller, a biological male who identifies as a woman, made a notable appearance wearing a low-cut blue top, skin-tight black leather pants, and boots, alongside an excessive amount of makeup, appearing to represent an activist who allegedly disrupted a council meeting to demand housing for illegal immigrants.

This attire was highlighted by Seattle journalist Jonathan Choe, who shared a video on X showcasing Mueller's choice of outfit while representing Iris Boardman, a far-left activist who is facing trespassing charges related to a February 27th incident in which activists interrupted a council meeting.

“My client has pleaded not guilty and she is not guilty — how about that?” Mueller told Choe outside the courtroom following the hearing.

Mueller, who has been a career public defender for over two decades, expressed this individual's belief in bringing diversity to the legal profession and serving as a role model for the transgender community.

“Since I came out as an openly transgendered attorney I bring diversity to the practice of a law and I am a role model for the transgendered community,” Mueller stated. Mueller also emphasized Mueller's role as a “distinctive and active voice for the civil rights of all with a particular awareness for transgender rights.”

The City of Seattle mandates “respectful business or office attire” for courtroom appearances. Mueller, who transitioned in 2012, claimed Mueller has since been “treated with complete respect and great acceptance.”
