It gets better: Thief who stole Oakland mayor's car was squatter at city hall

I can't help but just laugh at this one because it is so on-brand for Oakland.

The mayor had her car stolen, which we told you about on Wednesday.

Now we have more details.

Apparently, this dude took up residence on the eleventh floor at Oakland City Hall over Presidents' Day weekend and was somehow not detected by security.

By Monday, he jimmied the lock on Mayor Barbara Lee's office door, then took the keys to her $75,000 city-owned Ford Expedition. The thief then went to the unsecured parking lot and drove the SUV out of there.

Fortunately, security footage caught the guy and the SUV was easily found (as it has a tracking device). Police arrested 29-year-old suspect Logan Tell DeSilva on Thursday for burglary, auto theft, and vandalism.

Here's Mayor Lee:

No one in Oakland should have to worry about their car being stolen, whether they're a resident, a city worker, or the Mayor. Public safety is a priority across our entire city.

Lady, a squatter stole your work car from city hall. I don't believe you!
