Team USA Hockey – again with a former Maine hockey player on roster – has captured an Olympic Gold Medal.
Goalie Jeremy Swayman played three seasons (2017-20) with the University of Maine Black Bears.
Not since USA hockey last won gold in 1980, when the “Miracle on Ice” team did it with the help of another Maine guy, has American puck fever peaked to this level.
The captain of the famous 1980 team was Mike Eruzione, who previously had played hockey for Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine.
