“NYPD Blue” star Kim Delaney is reportedly trying to convince a judge that she fled the scene of a car crash because she was too famous to stick around.
Just when we thought we heard it all, the actress allegedly reminded us of how completely annoying and self absorbed celebrities can be. Delaney’s newly filed court documents push back against allegations that she was drunk when she left a car crash scene back in 2022, TMZ reported. Instead, she’s reportedly trying to convince the court that she feared for her safety because she’s oh-so-famous that she just had to take off for fear of retribution.

Someone bring out the tiny violin. It doesn’t get more lame than a star thinking she’s more famous than she actually is. It’s hard for her to use her celebrity status here — she doesn’t have any.
Delaney is far from being a household name in the real world, but she must really think highly of herself to allegedly fear that her crash scene was going to turn into a celebrity mobbing. I’m not buying the story she’s apparently trying to sell.
The actress admitted she rear-ended a man named Dzhamal Badalov, according to documents reviewed by TMZ. Badalov filed a lawsuit against her for unspecified damages, accusing Delaney of being intoxicated and taking off after she hit his vehicle.

While reportedly admitting she took off, she went on to claim that she left because she feared for her safety.
Delaney alleged she was surrounded by people at the crash scene and had a “previous history of personal assault in this neighborhood,” according to TMZ.
She reportedly praised herself quite generously by saying she has “appeared in television series and movies, and is additionally fearful of any retribution or attack based on her perceived celebrity status.”
I’m willing to bet many of you reading this still don’t even know who she is — I think she’ll be fine out there in the real world if she can avoid such allegations.
Badalov claimed Delaney was driving erratically before she hit his vehicle and smelled of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ. My recap here: she denied being drunk, allegedly tried to pay off the other driver to keep his mouth shut and fled the scene of the crash. I haven’t heard claims that she was being chased by the paparazzi or that she was mobbed by eager fans wanting autographs. I hardly think anyone was lining the streets to harm her — they probably wouldn’t have even known who the heck she was.
Delaney denied all wrongdoing in the matter and alleged third parties beyond her control caused the incident, according to TMZ.
