DHS Secretary Mullin Says HSI Handed DOJ a ‘Large Case’ on Ilhan Omar and Others

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced that Homeland Security Investigations has presented a "large case" to the Justice Department in the ongoing federal investigation of Rep. Ilhan Omar, and that the probe is not limited to the Minnesota congresswoman.

Speaking to on Friday, Mullin stated, "This isn't just a case that's targeting one individual. This is a large case that we have presented to the DOJ, and the DOJ is leading the investigations."

Mullin added that HSI agents "did a lot of investigation to be able to present the case to them."

WATCH:

As The Gateway Pundit has been covering, Omar is currently under an active federal criminal investigation into possible false statements on immigration and naturalization documents.

On October 12, Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant at her Washington, D.C., residence and seized phones, notebooks, and other items.

An October 21 Justice Department court filing refers to the congresswoman as "Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar."

Agents are also investigating whether Omar or her father, Nur Omar Mohamed, intentionally lied about her birth date on paperwork so she could gain citizenship through him as a minor when he was naturalized in 2000, despite being a legal adult.

Prosecutors told a court that grand jury subpoenas have gone to more than a dozen recipients, including relatives.

The grand jury is seated in Minnesota.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro has said several investigations involving Omar are underway, including a separate review of her financial disclosures.

Mullin has rejected claims of political motivation, saying the department is "enforcing our nation's laws" and "not weaponizing" or engaging in "political theater."

The New York Post obtained a certified copy of Omar's 2009 marriage license application from Hennepin County, Minnesota. On the form, dated February 12, 2009, her surname was initially written as Omar, then crossed out and changed to Elmi, then crossed out again and reverted to Omar.

The couple checked the box indicating they were not related by blood or adoption.

Omar has repeatedly denied the allegations against her.
