President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday regarding childhood vaccines, which separated the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three different shots.

The order recommends administering the separate shots across different visits, and directs the nation's health department to improve vaccine research. He did not specify how far apart the visits should be.

"Effective immediately, my administration's recognizing Gold Standard childhood vaccine recommendations for only 11 core vaccinations against the most serious and dangerous diseases, along with the MMR," he continued. "We want it in three separate vaccinations, given at separate times."
