CNN's Ana Navarro Makes Wild-Eyed Claims About January 6 Damage, 'Hunted' Brown People
Last weekend's riots across France were simply brutal, with a reported 2,500 arrests,1000 police officers injured, some 3,000 businesses trashed and looted with damage estimated at over one billion dollars, and multiple attacks on official buildings like the historic city hall in the French town of Limoges, built in 1883, which was burned down. This was nothing like January 6th, but it didn't stop CNN's Ana Navarro from claiming that it was, as she ripped Trump and ICE on Tuesday's The Situation Room.
Co-host Wolf Blitzer began the segment with a clip of President Trump warning that what happened in France could happen here if Democrats win the midterms.
TRUMP CLIP: If you want to see what is at stake in this election, just look at what's happening in France, a once great nation that is being conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists, and communists who hate Christianity, and they hate, frankly, the Western civilization itself.
When you see burning steeples and raging fires in France, just remember, that is what the radical Democrats want to do to America.
A vote for any Democrat this year is a vote to let that small and dangerous group of extremists hold all of us hostage in America. They're not going to hold us hostage.
He then brought in Navarro, who stuck with the insane leftist media narrative of the French riots, that it's just some students upset about prices.
BLITZER: Ana, is that a winning message, you think, for Republicans, what we just heard from President Trump?
NAVARRO: Well, it's something that he has used time and time again, right, the boogeyman, immigrants as the boogeyman and scaring people to the polls preying on people's angst and distress. What's happening in France is young people protesting and getting completely out of control because of the cost of living. It's not only happening in France, it's happening across Europe.
And Donald Trump says that that could happen here in America because of immigrants, because of communists, because of this, because of that. I actually have seen similar scenes in America. I saw them on January 6th when insurrectionists that he ginned up because of an election conspiracy theory that he spread and promoted took over the Capitol and destroyed our national treasures, our national monuments and national buildings in our nation's capital.
So, I would say to Donald Trump, why don't you look at history and what you caused and helped cause on January 6th, because this has happened in America.
Navarro's comparisons of the French riots to January 6th, and her claims that national treasures, monuments and buildings were destroyed are simply not true.
January 6th damage was estimated at 1.5 million dollars. There was some chemical damage to presidential statues and paintings ,including those of Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams, which cost about $25,000 to repair. And as for fires, AI tells me: No large-scale structural fires were started inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, though some minor fires, smoke, and tear gas were reported outside and near the building during the clashes.
Nothing like what happened in France, but Wolf Blitzer apparently couldn't care less about the inaccuracies, as he moved on to a Pew Research poll, showing that registered Latino voters favor Democrats for Congress. He set Navarro up, asking why, and she delivered. People of color "are being hunted"??
NAVARRO: For the same reason that every American -- that most Americans are moving away from Republicans. It's the economy first. It's the war.
When it comes to Latinos, there's this very specific thing playing out, and we see it playing out on our screens on a daily basis. Latinos, brown and black people in this country are being hunted by the Trump administration. We see the extreme cruelty.
Rarely a day goes by that we don't see images of Latinos, sometimes U.S. citizens, just because they look brown, because they look brown -- black, because of the racial profiling by this government, that they're not being tortured, wounded, hunted, chased, treated worse than we would allow animals to be treated in this country.
Some outrageous accusations, but again silent Blitzer was unconcerned as he allowed Navarro to continue, before making sure he thanked her, after co-host Pamela Brown led the way.
BROWN: Ana Navarro, thank you so much. Always great to have you on.
NAVARRO: Thank you, Wolf, and thank you, Pam.
BLITZER: And thanks from me as well, Ana. Appreciate it.
Pathetic display. Navarro knew she could get away with saying anything, and she did, while veteran journalist Wolf Blitzer apparently thinks his job ends after the question is asked, at least to left wingers. This is CNN!
