Breaking: Colombia Rocked by Powerful 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake
A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, causing serious damage and sending people fleeing buildings.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake struck at 7:34 a.m. near El Cairo, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
The USGS said Ecuador and Panama were also among the affected countries.

De acuerdo con el Servicio Geológico Colombiano el movimiento telúrico tuvo su epicentro en San José del Palmar, departamento del Chocó.

None of the media posted online was independently verified by The Western Journal.
According to the Associated Press, the epicenter was in San Jose del Palmar, a city of about 4,800 people in Colombia's Choco region.
The community is about 250 miles west of Bogota.

The USGS reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 66 miles.
Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella said he would personally oversee the response to the powerful tremor, the AP reported.
In June, Venezuela was rocked by a pair of similar quakes that killed and injured tens of thousands.
