This election season has been chock full of bizarre, extreme, and anti-American sentiment from a host of far-left candidates competing in Democrat primary races nationwide.
But one gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin has stood out even in that pack after a wave of controversial comments and positions resurfaced in recent weeks.
One problematic post from 2020 trashed the Thanksgiving holiday, asserting that it should have been canceled centuries ago.
Francesca Hong has since attempted to distance herself from that position, but even some leftists like "Real Time" host Bill Maher aren’t buying the supposed change of heart.
Breitbart provided a relevant portion of the transcript:
"Of course, yesterday…renounced it. I don't believe you, I don't believe you people who renounce things. We know what you said. You mean it, live by it. … No, you meant it. You know why I know she meant it? Because she hates all holidays. She talked about feeling attacked on Christmas when someone put on her computer a Christmas scene. She doesn't like fireworks, 4th of July. Halloween, all the far lefties hate Halloween, costumes that are inappropriate, oh please. This woman doesn't like Valentine's Day, another way of capitalism taking over our love life. She said Valentine's Day, the holiday that brings out the worst of humanity. That's the holiday that brings out the worst of humanity? Have you ever been to a Black Friday sale? People will hip check an old lady to get an air fryer. … The one place you don't have to worry about running into Francesca Hong? Party City."

On Friday’s Real Time, Maher targeted Hong in his opening monologue and later returned to the subject of her and other progressive Democrats, calling the Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate out specifically for discussing her “proximity to whiteness” due to her mixed race child.
“Look at this Francesca Hong. I mentioned it in the monologue, what she said about whiteness and toxicity. She described her son — now she has an ex-husband white. Okay. She’s Asian. She described it as wrestling with — this is her own son — being in proximity to whiteness. Of all the things I think the Democrats have to lose, number one, whiteness, it’s not a disease,” he said.
Maher added, “This has got to go,” and called Democrats’ talk about “whiteness” their “big flaw.”
In a 2021 interview with ListenMKE, Hong discussed her bi-racial son with chef and now-ex-husband Matt Morris.
“My proximity to whiteness continues, right?” she said. “My son is biracial. He is half white and half Korean, and I think navigating, you know, what his identity is and how people perceive him is always at the back of my mind.”
