An Army veteran who was granted a presidential pardon in 2020 is now actively working to secure the release of a fellow soldier, convinced that the life sentence imposed on him is unwarranted.

Nicholas Slatten, a former Army sergeant and Blackwater contractor, was a member of Raven 23, a tactical support team assigned to protect a U.S. diplomat in Baghdad, Iraq. At least 31 universities are severing their partnerships with an organization that the Trump administration has accused of illegal racial discrimination in Ph.D. programs.

The Department of Education (ED) opened investigations into 45 universities in March 2025 over their partnership with ‘The Ph.D. Project,’ which ED said limits eligibility based on race. Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill said Thursday that Congress and federal law enforcement will wage a “two-front fight” against organizations that fund Antifa.

FBI Director Kash Patel said on “The Dan Bongino Show” that the FBI has uncovered significant funding streams tied to Antifa and is conducting a financial probe that could lead to new enforcement actions targeting those backing the group. Gill said on “The Evening Edit” that lawmakers plan to hold hearings to investigate whether nonprofit organizations are using tax-free status to funnel money into political violence linked to Antifa.
