When President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement agents appeared across the USA in early 2025, prophets of dooms predicted violence. The Left and its media pointed to the shooting deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good as proof positive.
Multiple gunmen brutally attacked a church in Jordan on Friday in the middle of a funeral, killing at least seven people and wounding 34 others - in what is one of the worst terror attacks on Christians in the country's modern history.
The Jordanian government quickly condemned the act as terrorism, and authorities are reportedly seeking the attackers amid an investigation.
It happened in Jordan's Karak region, south of the capital of Amman, at St. George Orthodox Church - in a region which has been home to a sizeable ancient Christian community for some 2,000 years.
According to a Reuters description of the terror assault:
Interior Minister Mazin Al Farrayeh said the attack had been carried out by "extremists", but that it was too early to tell whether they had any links to known groups either inside or outside Jordan. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
A video aired on Jordan's state-owned Al-Mamlaka television station that appeared to be from a security camera mounted on the church showed three people firing at it from a sidewalk and hiding behind trees and a low wall. The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a notice of appeal on Oct. 22 in its bid to block California from counting mail-in ballots from voters whom the federal government suspected of being noncitizens.
The DOJ asked the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to intervene after U.S. District Judge David Carter failed to rule on its emergency application for injunctive relief by noon Thursday, the deadline set by the department.
The department said the judge's silence amounted to what it called a "constructive denial" of its emergency application for preliminary injunctive relief, citing the "critical and exigent nature" of the case.
The DOJ sued California on Oct. 15 to prevent the counting of mail-in ballots from more than 20,000 people identified by the federal government as likely noncitizens.
The federal government asked that if California was not able to independently confirm the citizenship of the voters registered, the state should set aside ballots received until citizenship could be confirmed.

The Trump administration has made rebuilding and strengthening domestic critical material supply chains a national security priority. Its designation of helium as a critical material on Friday morning extends that effort to now include the industrial gas used for semiconductor manufacturing and many other applications.
The Energy Department's decision earlier today makes the 20th critical material designated by the agency and brings the industrial gas within the Energy Act of 2020's critical materials framework, including closer government monitoring.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright wrote in a statement, "President Trump is bringing back America's manufacturing industry, and that means making sure we have the materials needed to build things in America again."
Wright continued, "Helium is essential to producing the semiconductors and advanced technologies that power our economy. By designating helium as a critical material, we are taking another step toward securing our supply chains, creating American jobs, and ensuring the United States leads the world in energy and technological innovation."

President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he plans to use his veto power on bills or resolutions Democrats want to pass if they win in either the House or the Senate, with days to go before the November midterm elections.
"I think the Republicans are going to win - but if there was gridlock, what happens is I veto everything, and then the Democrats come and want to make a deal," he said.
When pressed further on congressional gridlock if Democrats win Congress, he responded by saying that historically, a president would then "veto, veto, veto, and they come and they say, 'How do we get it done.' And we make a deal."
Trump has issued two vetoes during his second administration, while his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, used his veto power 13 times. In his first term, Trump vetoed 10 measures.
