Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson is being prosecuted in Britain after she failed to insure her £50,000 Audi while in the United States.
The Australian actress and comedian, 46, was in Los Angeles for five months with her heavily pregnant wife, Ramona Agruma, when the insurance on her Audi SUV ran out.
Ms Wilson - whose car was parked at the couple's London home at the time - has now been charged with keeping a motor vehicle which does not meet insurance requirements after the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) brought a case against her.
Court papers detailing the case show Ms Wilson, who has appeared in movies like Bridesmaids and Bachelorette, pleaded not guilty to the offence - and issued a written apology for the mistake.
She explained that her wife experienced complications while carrying their second child, a daughter named Rose, meaning the couple could not return to London from Los Angeles until after the birth of the infant in May.
Ms Wilson said in the five months the couple were in the US, the vehicle was 'not driven at all'.
She wrote: 'We returned home with the new baby on May 28 2026, and were driven in a taxi home.

'During this entire time, the vehicle was not used at all and was not kept on the road. It was kept in a private underground garage at our address and not driven at all.
'Upon our return to London, when I opened the mail, I realized that the insurance for this car had not been purchased.
'So before we used the car, I made sure to go online and get the appropriate insurance under my wife's name. Only once that insurance was paid for was the car driven.'
She added: 'Please accept our sincerest apologies, we are not UK residents and I was unaware of the requirement to keep a car insured.
'I believed because we were overseas and because the car was not at all in use or parked on the road, that it was OK for the car insurance to temporarily lapse.'
Sydney-born Ms Wilson's case was initially dealt with in the Single Justice Procedure last week, when it was referred to an open court hearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on November 30.
According to court documents, the DVLA alleges her Audi Q5 was uninsured on May 26, and it wrote to the actress at her £3.5 million apartment in Whitehall, central London, to offer her the chance to pay a fixed penalty fine.
The agency said Ms Wilson did not respond to the offer, and it then opted to bring a criminal prosecution.
The DVLA battle comes only months following the actress's successful defamation battle against Charlotte MacInnes, star of Ms Wilson's directorial debut, The Deb.

Ms MacInnes began legal proceedings in 2025 following a series of Instagram posts by Ms Wilson that accused her of complaining about unwanted sexual advances by the film's producer Amanda Ghost, and then lying about it to get a record contract.
Ms MacInnes denied the sexual assault occurred, that she complained about it to Ms Wilson, and she retracted it in return for another lead role and the record deal.
In July, Ms MacInnes's defamation lawsuit was dismissed by Federal Court Justice Elizabeth Raper, who ruled that while one of Wilson's posts carried an imputation about her, it did not rise to the level of defamation because Ms MacInnes failed to establish serious harm to her reputation.
Following the judgement, Ms Wilson published a heartfelt statement to social media.
She said: 'I'm grateful the Court has taken the time to carefully consider the evidence and reach its decision.
'This has been a long process and throughout I have tried to stay grounded in my values and what I believed was right.
'I'm thankful that process has now reached its conclusion. Thank you to the Judge and the Australian legal system who I have the utmost respect for.'
Ms Wilson, who has been married to Ms Agruma since 2024, currently divides her time between Los Angeles, London and Australia, but has been quietly selling off her homes in Sydney and Los Angeles over the past several months.
Earlier this month, she listed her waterfront property in Sydney's Birchgrove for sale with a $3.8 million price guide.
