Trump makes major senior staff shake-up with weeks to midterm elections

President Donald Trump is shaking up his senior-level staff with just weeks to go until the midterm elections could force a major power shake-up in Washington, DC.

He named his staff secretary, Will Scharf, to the top job of White House counsel, replacing his lawyer David Warrington.

'I know Will well!' Trump wrote on social media on Saturday, praising him as 'tough, strong, and smart.'

Warrington is expected to leave the White House and enter the private sector, Trump announced.

Trump praised Scharf's work representing him in personal legal cases, including the Supreme Court case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith charging the President with election interference.

'Will Scharf will do a great job as White House Counsel!' he added.

As staff secretary, Scharf was tasked with managing legal memos, documents, and statements that require the President's attention.

Trump has taken a personal liking to Scharf, whose unassuming demeanor and professionalism fit the President's vision of 'a star,' and asked him to appear on camera during public signing ceremonies

Police raided 'obsessed hobbyist' when he was just 15 minutes away from completing 3D printing of parts needed to make a gun

A grandfather who was just 15 minutes away from completing the 3D printing of parts to make a useable gun when police raided his home was today sentenced to four-and-a-half years behind bars.

David Boylett was also caught in possession of ammunition which would have worked with the weapon when it was assembled, and an overpowered air rifle.

The court heard the 'obsessed hobbyist' was a victim of the Shropshire maternity scandal, having lost his son Joshua who 'could have been better looked after'.

But sentencing the 62-year-old today, Judge David Lock KC said he could not see a link between that tragedy and Boylett's 'relationship or obsession with guns'.

The judge said Boylett had very 'nearly succeeded in manufacturing a gun'.

The judge said 3D printers combined with information readily available online meant 'that the possibility of an individual manufacturing something which could then be used in crime, for a mass shooting or any other illegal purpose becomes astonishingly easy.'

He added: 'The only way I can respond to that is by making sure sentences are passed which reflect the gravity of the business of making

SNP face threat of new probe by peers over Peter Murrell embezzlement scandal

The scandal surrounding jailed former SNP chief Peter Murrell is set to be investigated by peers in the House of Lords, the Mail can reveal.

MSPs voted down an inquiry in Scotland after the Greens joined the SNP to oppose a call for a Holyrood probe.

Now peers are preparing for a possible investigation amid a growing row over the former SNP chief executive's embezzlement of more than £400,000 of party funds.

It comes after a Tory MP demanded an inquiry after claiming Nicola Sturgeon lied about the scandal and stitched up former First Minister Alex Salmond to hide the truth.

Sir David Davis, who was a close friend of Mr Salmond, launched an explosive intervention in the Commons last month when he made a series of claims that Ms Sturgeon knew of the crimes Murrell carried out – something she strongly denies.

The Mail spoke to a senior cross-bench peer who did not want to be named as they believed they may be drafted in to lead an inquiry or play a part in

Florida dad carried out brutal acts against kittens to teach daughter lesson when she 'acted up,' police say

A cruel father in Florida admitted to abusing the family's two-month-old kitten to punish his teenage daughter when she 'acted up,' police say.

David Charette Jr, 48, was identified by witnesses as the suspect in a case of horrific animal abuse. He allegedly hurt the kittens in front of his daughter in Fort Myers.

Law enforcement responded to reports of a man attempting to drown and strike the kitten, named Luna, in Pine Manor.

Charette Jr allegedly confessed to the horrific acts and said he abused the adorable animals to punish his daughter when she 'acted up,' police said.

A statement given to police stated that a witness had seen Charette Jr 'repeatedly struck Luna in the face with an open hand while telling the kitten that [redacted] was the reason he was hurting her,' according to a probable cause statement obtained by the Daily Mail.

Luna was allegedly heard yelling and crying in pain. Charette Jr allegedly then picked up a glass bottle of nail polish and struck the kitten in the head 'multiple times' as the kitten 'continued crying out in apparent agony,' the statement said.

Hardworking family's beloved taco truck is completely destroyed after 'speeding' driver rear-ended them... as mom is thrown in air on impact

A family is recovering from multiple injuries and trying to piece their life back together after a pickup truck rear-ended their taco truck.

Tacos Villa, a family run birria taco truck, was crashed into by a pickup truck August 6 while it was parked in South Los Angeles.

Jose Silva, his mother, and his stepfather, who run the business, were all inside the truck preparing to close for the day and were injured in the crash.

Silva told KTLA that he is still recovering from the cuts and bruises he suffered in the accident.

'Today, more than ever, I thank God for protecting them and for giving us the opportunity to remain together,' he wrote on the business' Instagram

The collision, which occurred at 5.44pm, was so strong that it pushed the taco truck about 40 feet and threw Silva's mother out of the vehicle, according to Silva.

'It threw her out of the cab, and she landed about 6 or 7 feet from the van,' Silva told KTLA in Spanish.

The family claims the pickup truck was speeding

See the terrifyingly graphic Trump 'bullseye' threat by Iran… as frantic Iranians warn in leaked messages: 'They never do this'

Exclusive images and videos obtained by the Daily Mail show a massive, custom-made banner dominating Tajrish Square in the Iranian capital of Tehran, installed late last week.

The provocative installation displays a detailed caricature of Trump, his features clearly recognizable, centered under a large, blood-red painted 'bullseye' scope.

Below the image of the targeted President, in large crimson English capital letters, is the chilling phrase: 'Never will be blood.'

The unmissable public display, a piece of state-sanctioned propaganda, has sparked genuine concern among local residents.

In messages sent to the Daily Mail, Iranians described the banner as a significant and frightening escalation, even for a regime famous for its 'Death to America' rhetoric.

'They never do this,' one anxious resident told the Daily Mail, referring to such a direct, publicly viewable graphical threat against a President in such a high-traffic area.

'They rarely put up banners like this, but at night during events in this same square, they often make verbal threats against him... They [the people] are very angry about what the regime has turned this place into. They have disrupted everyday city life with all this loud and unpleasant noise.'

The secrets of the River Danube revealed by drought - from a woolly mammoth to Nazi motorbike - as Europe's heatwave continues

Record-low water levels in the River Danube have revealed the remains of a woolly mammoth as well as dozens of Nazi shipwrecks as Europe suffers from a severe drought.

The waterway, which runs across ten countries from southern Germany to the Black Sea, is in the grip of an intense dry spell and has revealed a number of relics as a result.

Scientists were seen gathered around a large bone belonging to a woolly mammoth on the banks of the river near the village of Ryahovo in northern Bulgaria.

So far they have identified a jaw bone, fragments of tusks, part of a shoulder blade and a femur with its articular head among the stash found at the end of July.

The remains were remarkably well-preserved, with images appearing to show teeth still lining the jaw bone.

Woolly mammoths co-existed with early humans, who hunted them for food and used their tusks and bones as tools.

Andy Burnham urged to deliver 'real change' and approve new North Sea drilling

Andy Burnham has been warned it would be 'madness' and a 'dereliction of duty' to block drilling in two massive prospects in the North Sea.

As the public consultation on the Jackdaw gas field off Aberdeen closed, the Prime Minister was told to deliver 'real change' not more 'warm words' to the industry.

A second consultation on the Rosebank oil field west of Shetland closes next week.

Shadow Scottish Secretary Andrew Bowie said: 'We must get Britain drilling again.

'Approving production at these new fields should be an easy decision for the Prime Minister, not a dilemma.

'Refusing permission for Jackdaw and Rosebank would not only be madness, it would be a dereliction of duty that could signal the death knell of our vital oil and gas industry.

'These developments will help shape the lives of North Sea workers for years to come by creating thousands of jobs, giving us greater energy security, more tax revenue, and less exposure to global shocks.'

Referring to BP's recent decision to sell its North Sea operations after 60 years, he added: 'If BP's North Sea exit isn't the wake-up call needed for Labour to lift

Kristi Noem's cross-dressing husband Bryon is nowhere in sight as family celebrates bronze statue unveiling, days after she was seen getting cozy with Corey Lewandowski

Kristi Noem celebrated the unveiling of a life-sized bronze statue honoring her years as South Dakota governor on Friday - but the two men at the center of her personal life were conspicuously absent.

The former Homeland Security secretary was joined by her grandchildren and mother as she stood alongside the likeness of herself in Pierre, assuming one of her favorite poses as a smiley yet determined cowgirl standing alongside her beloved horse 'Iceman.'

Noem served from 2019 to January 2025, when she joined the Trump administration.

The installation, created by sculptor John Lopez, is the newest addition to the Trail of Governors that adorn the capital city.

'Well, thank you all for coming today,' a cheerful Noem told the gathering at the state Capitol grounds.

'I will admit that I thought with everybody's busy schedules and everything, there was this little thing in the back of my head wondering if anybody would come to the celebration.'

But Noem's alleged lover and longtime aide Corey Lewandowski, with whom she was photographed earlier in the week canoodling at a restaurant in

Labour's plan to release thousands of killers, thugs and paedophiles set to be thrown into chaos as probation officers expected to vote in favour of industrial action

Labour's plan to release thousands of killers, thugs and paedophiles looks set to be thrown into chaos as probation officers are expected to vote in favour of industrial action.

The results of a ballot of thousands of probation staff represented by the National Association of Probation Officers (Napo) is expected as early as tomorrow, with sources saying that a vote in favour looked 'fairly clear-cut'.

Voting closed tonight and the poll is only 'indicative', meaning another official ballot must be held for any strike to be legal.

But with the dry-run result expected to be in favour, it means walkouts could be underway by the end of the year, coinciding with Labour's early release scheme.

Under the scheme, around 5,000 serious criminals – including killers and wife-beaters – will be released early over ten months from October.

Following an urgent review, around 1,000 rapists and the most serious sex offenders will be excluded.

But among those set to be released are PC Andrew Harper's killers, which has sparked a furious row in recent weeks.

Martin Jones, the Chief Inspector of Probation, told <div class=

Student stabbed in the heart while on the phone to his girlfriend after falling out with a friend over fake Rolex, court hears

A university student was on the phone to his girlfriend when he was stabbed in the heart after falling out with a friend over a fake Rolex, a court heard.

Khaleed Oladipo, 20, was walking home when he was knifed five times in the chest by fellow student Harper Dennis, 18, after they argued about a 'perceived debt', jurors were told.

The attack was caught on a passing motorist's dashcam who told how she saw 'a snowstorm of feathers' from one of their puffer jackets, Leicester Crown Court heard on Monday.

Dennis, a first year student at Leicester University, denies murder, claiming self defence.

On the first day of his trial, jurors were told Dennis and Mr Oladipo, who was in his third year studying cyber security at Leicester's De Montfort University, were friends through online gaming and were both part of a group chat, Clownshow, a court heard.

But they had fallen out over money – with Dennis claiming to be owed £3,000. He had allegedly threatened Mr Oladipo's girlfriend if he did not pay up.

Jurors were told Dennis had also been left 'embarrassed' when a Rolex watch Mr Oladipo had given him to sell turned

Trump EXPLODES over Iranian cash demands... as secret attack on US water supply unveiled in bombshell report

President Donald Trump has hit back at Tehran's conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, insisting Iran must first compensate the United States for decades of regime-backed attacks.

Tehran wants US forces out of the region and a compensation check for the damage, terms Washington has consistently ruled out

Trump responded by demanding Iran pay compensation for decades of attacks, citing deaths from roadside bombs and conflicts.

'Additionally, compensation should be paid to the families of the hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters that Iran has killed over the last 50 years, not to mention the 52,000 that have been killed in the last five months,' he wrote on Truth Social.

'I have instructed my representatives to put this firmly into any, and all, future negotiations.'

The President's comments come after US spy agencies have blamed Iran for cyber attacks across more than a dozen states over the last month.

In late July, Iranian regime hackers hit a water utility in western Arkansas as part of the wider campaign, US intelligence officials believe, according to the Washington Post.

Suspected Iran-linked cyberattacks have also struck water systems in
