Democrats have won the first two Senate contests of the night, claiming generally expected victories in Georgia and Virginia early on.
Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., was projected to win reelection on Tuesday evening, marking the first win for Democrats in a competitive race of the night.
Ossoff had faced Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., in the battleground state, though he maintained a healthy lead throughout most of the campaign cycle. The Associated Press called the race for Ossoff at 7:55 p.m.
Virginia's Senate contest marked the first concluded race in that chamber of the evening. The Associated Press called the race for Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., before any votes were counted.
As of press time, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Virginia have closed their polls.
Republicans have yet to notch a Senate win thus far, but Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky., is the heavy favorite to replace the retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
Tuesday evening will see voters decide control of the House and Senate. This is a developing story, check back for more updates as the Associated Press makes race calls.
