President Donald Trump has called for U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar to immediately resign or be removed by Congress after recent reports showed she used a "fake name" when she was sworn in.
Thursday night, Trump reacted to the new revelations about the congresswoman, including her response when asked if she had a biological relation to her ex-husband: "Not to my knowledge."
"It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar's name is not Ilhan Omar, the one she used to get elected and sworn into Congress, but rather, it's an entirely different name, Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, and that her last name is, incredibly, also the exact name of her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the person they said she married and had children with," Trump remarked on his Truth Social platform. "When asked whether or not she married her brother, she said, 'Not to my knowledge.' In other words, she somehow didn't know?"
The president called upon Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-Ky.) to look into the congresswoman, whom he said "conceded her seat" on the basis that she committed "FRAUD."
"Therefore, because she used a fake name to be sworn in, I assume she must IMMEDIATELY resign from Congress," asserted Trump. "Please inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, James Michael Johnson, that the Dumocrat Party has just conceded her seat. Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, her real name, has openly admitted to FRAUD, and she will not be legally allowed to be a Member of this August Body from this point forth."

Trump had also said at a campaign rally in Iowa on Thursday, "I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress," in light of the news.
"The Republicans have just picked up a seat in the House," he declared.
"She's been a scammer for a long time," he added.
Further emphasizing the weight of falsifying one's name before Congress, Trump mused about Omar possibly going to jail or being facing deportation.
A Wednesday federal court filing from U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro's office referred to the representative as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar."
A spokesperson for Omar called the allegation that she changed her name to cover her widely speculated marriage to her brother a "desperate smear" to distract from the Trump administration's leadership.
"This is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name," the spokesperson stated, also adding that it was "disgraceful that the media continues to give this lie oxygen."
Omar has forcefully denied wrongdoing and maintained that she became a citizen at age 17 when her father became a naturalized citizen in 2000.
