Trump’s Final Pitch To Money-Strapped Voters Before Midterms: Hey, Look At These Cool Renovations We’re Doing

President Donald Trump spent the closing hours of the 2026 campaign touting his Washington, D.C., renovation projects while claiming that he had solved inflation despite voters telling pollsters they were still feeling the economic pa

in.

Trump, speaking at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Monday, touted his efforts renovating the reflecting pool, statues and monuments in the nation's capital, but spent less time talking about voters' top issues going into the midterms: inflation. Trump then claimed "inflation is solved" on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday.

Trump, in his address Monday, spoke negatively about efforts under previous administrations to renovate the reflecting pool, and bragged about his efforts.

"I decided to get involved in this, especially over the last few months, and we've done a, I think, a really great job. We had – the vandals went to work, but we also went to work on the vandals," Trump said.

There is a lack of evidence to substantiate that the reflecting pool was vandalized, and a case against the administration's proposed suspect was dropped. Trump chastised U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro after her office dropped the charges against Olympian David Hearn.

Trump proceeded to promote his other renovation efforts in the nation's capital.

"We've cleaned hundreds of sites of graffiti, fixed over 2,300 lighting fixtures in Washington, DC, cleaned and renovated over 83 statues and fountains and monuments, removed hundreds of squalid homeless encampments. We had encampments on most of the parkland that you now see with — in many cases, it's going to start in the spring, but we're replacing all of the grass on all of the parks because, like the human being, grass has a life also."

Trump went on to detail renovations he performed on the White House, including new grass, ballroom and a helipad.

"So, they've done the entire front section surrounding the new ballroom and the brand new helipad, which has been getting, by the way, rave reviews. The helipad was desperately needed," Trump continued.

Trump continued speaking about his record Tuesday on "Fox and Friends."

"We got the worst of the worst [illegal immigrants] out […] this was the toughest job I was given, inflation is solved, and oil, you know, oil, I don't know if you saw, came down ten dollars, a record yesterday, ten dollars it came down. And the Hormuz Strait, we have total control over it with a naval blockade. Everything is going good; everyone respects us," Trump said on "Fox and Friends."

The Iran War has forced an estimated $1100 burden on each American household. According to polling, 53% of Republicans disapprove of Trump's handling of the economy. Over 70% of voters disapprove of Trump's dealing with inflation, which is most cited by voters as their number one priority for the administration. Only 27% of voters believe the economy is on the right track.

Trump finally touched on his economy in the last five minutes of his hour-long speech Monday after sharing his thoughts on Democrats and renovations.

"We had a great first term. In terms of the economy, we had the best term ever. We had the most successful economy. I believe that this economy, with all that's happening, with the $22.2 trillion being invested and with already the creation of $25 trillion, with a T, $25 trillion of wealth, we've never done anywhere even close to that […] it's a golden age of America," Trump concluded.
