Cuban Coast Guard Kills 4 Americans in Speedboat Ambush

Four Americans are dead. Communist Cuba pulled the trigger. The Cuban Coast Guard opened fire on a U.S.-registered speedboat Wednesday, killing four men and wounding six others in an incident that has sparked international outrage and demands for accountability. From Breitbart:

“As a consequence of the confrontation, as of the time of this report, four aggressors on the foreign vessel were killed and six injured. In the face of current challenges, Cuba reaffirms its determination to protect its territorial waters, based on the principle that national defense is a fundamental pillar of the Cuban State in safeguarding its sovereignty and ensuring stability in the region.”

The Cuban Interior Ministry claims the speedboat passengers fired first, injuring a Cuban vessel commander. But U.S. officials are treating the communist regime’s claims with the skepticism they deserve. Secretary of State Marco Rubio immediately pushed back on Havana’s narrative. From AP News:

“Suffice it to say, it is highly unusual to see shootouts in open sea like that. It’s not something that happens every day. It’s something, frankly, that hasn’t happened with Cuba in a very long time. We’re gonna find out exactly what happened here, and we’ll respond accordingly.”

Russia’s endorsement of the killings should tell Americans everything they need to know. When Moscow praises a regime’s actions, you know who the bad guys are. Florida Republicans are demanding answers and accountability.

The boat was reportedly stolen from the Florida Keys, and at least one American citizen was confirmed among the dead. Six others were wounded and taken into Cuban custody.
