A co-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America is being ferociously mocked for her inability to answer a simple question from a journalist.

DSA co-chair Megan Romer appeared Friday on “The New Yorker Radio Hour” podcast, and told host David Remnick: “We do believe in taxing the hell out of millionaires.”

The question from Remnick that prompted Romer to blow a gasket was: “What does ‘taxing the hell out of them’ mean?”

Romer replied, chuckling: “Uhhhh, yeah, you know, again, I don’t have like a solid [answer], but … .”

In the early months of President Donald Trump's first term, when enemies of the administration clung to the since-discredited Russia collusion narrative, the FBI opened a probe called "March Toll" into then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

The FBI launched the probe at the behest of two Democrat senators, one of whom resigned from office in disgrace before the bureau concluded the investigation of Sessions. The senators, Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Al Franken of Minnesota, wrote to then-FBI Director James Comey to demand an investigation. In 2017, Trump fired Comey, who became a Trump enemy.

The probe lasted a year, from May 2017 to May 2018.

It began on May 10, one day after Trump fired Comey as FBI director. Sessions had already recused himself from the Russia investigation into Trump. Later that month, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate the alleged Russia collusion.

Some Virginia anti-data center activists and candidates are seemingly linked to a Marxist-Leninist party tied to the Chinese Communist Party, according to public records, social media and news reports.

Local Virginia political figures have appeared in connection with the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a Marxist-Leninist organization that seeks to replace US capitalism with socialism. Data center opposition has intensified across Virginia over concerns about rising electricity demand and costs, water use, noise pollution and facilities being built near homes, according to the Virginia Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission. Those issues are especially pronounced in Northern Virginia, where the state's data center industry is focused.

‘Taxpayers are funding salaries, not programs’: Pipeline of cash from D.C. to nonprofits doubles in just a few years


In the past decade, government grants to nonprofits and the number of nonprofits that receive tax money has doubled, raising questions about whether public money is being wasted, an investigation by The Center Square found.

In 2016, federal, state and local governments gave $149.5 billion in grants to about 56,000 nonprofits registered with the IRS, an analysis of nonprofit tax returns shows. In 2020, that number went up to nearly $310 billion with more than 110,000 nonprofits receiving taxpayer funding. Two years later, the numbers peaked at $319 billion though about 10,000 fewer nonprofits received government cash, the data shows.

David Williams, president of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance, said there is not enough accountability or oversight of the money that goes to nonprofits.

A strong earthquake shook parts of Colombia Monday morning, and the resulting devastation was caught on video, as people ran for cover and buildings collapsed.

The earthquake, centered in the western part of the nation, registered 7.4 on the Richter scale, resulting in at least 47 deaths, according to reports, though that number is expected to rise.

Video shows buildings collapsing in the town of Cali. It’s expected many victims are trapped under the rubble of these buildings.

President Donald Trump on Monday flipped the script on Iran’s demands for compensation for damages during the ongoing war, and is now demanding compensation from the Islamic Republic.

“I see that Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran are asking for compensation for the damage done to them during the last five month Military Conflict (started because, THEY WILL NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON), even though it was never mentioned in any of our negotiations or meetings!” Trump said on X.

“But it is an interesting idea because now I am likewise demanding compensation from Iran, for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts, for which they are famous, as led initially by General Soleimani, including the families of those killed on the USS Cole, and thousands of others killed in combat.

Feds confirm law enforcement sweep in 1 city nets 1,200 illegal immigrants


Law enforcement officers conducting a sweep for illegal immigrants in one American city have arrested 1,200 individuals, including some 720 who already had been convicted of, or charged with, criminal actions.

Marco Charles, one chief at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, said the sweep took violent criminals such as sex offenders and child abusers off the streets.

According to a report from Fox, Charles told “Fox & Friends,” “We arrested over 1,200 aliens, illegal aliens, out in the Atlanta, Georgia area. More than half of those people had criminal histories.”
