WATCH: JD Vance Goes Full Dumbledore For Halloween — Baby Dobby Steals The Show

Vice President JD Vance traded the campaign trail for a wizard's robe this Halloween — and his newborn son nearly stole the whole show.

Vance dressed as Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series, complete with a long silver wig, matching cap and robe. His baby boy joined him as Dobby the house-elf for a genuinely funny family moment.

The vice president previewed his costume before the big reveal and made it clear he was fully committed to the bit:

Roll Call's Factba.se records that Vance first disclosed the plan during a Texas town hall. He explained that his children are deeply into Harry Potter, joked that the beard and white hair made Dumbledore feel like a natural fit, and said Halloween is especially fun with four young children in the family.

Then came the finished product. Holding baby Alec in his arms, "Vice President Dumbledore" wished families a happy Halloween and told kids to have fun, stay safe and eat plenty of candy:

The Dobby costume was the perfect touch. Tiny knitted ears, a simple tan outfit and one very calm baby turned a good costume into the kind of clip families will actually want to replay.

The Associated Press reported that Alec Neel Vance was born July 19 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, becoming the first child born to a sitting vice president in more than 150 years. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance said both mother and baby were healthy and that Alec's older siblings were overjoyed to meet him.

Alec joined Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel as the family's fourth child. The vice president publicly thanked the Walter Reed doctors, nurses and White House medical staff who cared for the family.

The historical comparison reached back to Schuyler Colfax, who served as vice president under President Ulysses Grant.

The wider family photo showed that Vance and baby Dobby were only part of the theme:

Washington produces plenty of forced photo ops. This did not feel like one.

It was a dad leaning into the costume his children wanted, laughing at himself and giving the country a rare political clip with no speech, no spin and no manufactured outrage.

And yes, baby Dobby won Halloween.
