A staggering £440MILLION Powerball jackpot prize is up for grabs tonight - so how would you spend it?

From travel to starting a business or investing in philanthropic efforts, the potential is limitless for the winner of the National Lottery's staggering £440million jackpot prize.

Powerball sees Britons pay £4 per line to compete with their US counterparts for the chance to win jackpots that can balloon into the billions, paid out over 30 years.

Britons can purchase tickets tonight to enter into the life-changing draw on Thursday morning. It could give players the chance to live like Dolly Parton, who died with a net worth of over $450million.

The biggest Powerball prize ever won was an astonishing £1.53billion, scooped by a player in California in November 2022.

But with endless fortune comes endless dreams – so how exactly would hopeful Britons spend their millions?

Research by the National Lottery, conducted by Opinium, found the way respondents would spend their winnings was varied across the board. But all took inspiration from some of the richest A-listers.

More than 27 per cent preferred to spend on experiences and become 'globe trotters', jetting off in first-class to travel the world as much as possible.

The winnings could eclipse the fortune of Dua Lipa – worth £150million – who outside her sell-out world tours, has built a reputation for herself with envious fans for constantly being on holiday.

The star once told British Vogue: 'People do really love to joke about the fact that I'm always on holiday. I'm not always on holiday; I just make everything I do feel like a holiday.'

Meanwhile the Beckhams have flaunted their 130-foot superyacht named Seven after David's shirt number, which has gone to some of the world's most glamorous destinations.

And Rihanna has spoken about preferring to spend money on experiences rather than possessions, proving that for many, the best things can't be bought off the shelf.

For 22 per cent of respondents, they'd care less about the material and more about using the money to help others – whether that be supporting family members or donating to charities.

Dolly Parton was a prolific philanthropist and had several initiatives to give back, including the Dollywood Foundation to boost students' educational success and support families.

Some 16 per cent would use their newfound wealth to become their own boss, setting up their dream business, using the financial freedom to choose how they spend their time, where they live and what brings them joy.

Sir Richard Branson, who has a net worth of $2.8billion, famously said his metric for success was happiness: 'If you do good and have fun, the money will come.'

And while most dream of seeing the world, supporting good causes or starting a business, three per cent have even bigger ambitions, wanting to invest in a sports team, like Ryan Reynolds who co-owns the Welsh football club Wrexham AFC.

But 14 per cent said they would choose to disappear, keeping their win a closely guarded secret.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners' Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery said: 'One of the fascinating things about life-changing wins is that everyone imagines spending their winnings differently.

'While some dream of holidays, homes and luxury purchases, others focus on helping family, supporting charities or securing their future.

'Whether you're a globe trotter dreaming of adventures, a budding entrepreneur itching to launch your own empire, or a legacy builder wanting to make a difference, a jackpot win means something different to everyone. And a £440M Powerball jackpot win could give you the freedom to be a little bit of everything!'
