A woman aged in her 20s has died after reportedly falling from a hotel balcony early on Sunday.
South Australia Police said they were called to a hotel at the corner of Hindley Street and Morphett Street at about 4.10am after reports that a
woman had fallen from a balcony.
The woman died despite efforts by paramedics, SA Police confirmed.
The Advertiser reported the woman had been out with friends celebrating Halloween and tried to climb a drainpipe at the Rosemont Hotel before she fell.
Daily Mail understands she was not a patron at the Rosemont, and had attempted to scale the drainpipe as she was passing by.
Josh Hughes, 27, said he had rushed over after hearing the pipe snap and had seen the woman on the ground.
'I just ran straight up to her and put my finger in between her hands and was like "can you squeeze my finger?",' he told The Advertiser.
'She did nothing. I just jumped straight on the phone to the ambulance.

The Rosemont Hotel's new owner, Glenn O'Rourke
'It was a bit hard for me to go home and sleep after that. I thought I'd come back for a walk down here this morning but seeing all of it now just hurts me even more.'
SA Police said it was aware footage of the incident may have been captured by members of the public, and urged people not to share it to social media or by any other means out of respect for the woman and her family.
'Anyone with relevant footage is urged to contact police,' they said.
SA Police added there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
The 180-year-old Rosemont is one of Adelaide's most historic pubs, which sits at the West End of Hindley Street, the city's late-night party hub.
The tragedy occurred just three months after it reopened its doors for the first time since 2024, after new owner Glenn O'Rourke poured $500,000 into a first-stage renovation.
In August, Mr O'Rourke said: 'The Rosemont is one of Adelaide's iconic pubs. It's been part of the city's history since 1846 and deserved a new chapter.'
He said restoring the Rosemont to its former glory would help to 'revitalise the West End of Hindley Street and creating a venue that brings people together through great food, live sport, live music and genuine hospitality'.
Mr O'Rourke was contacted for comment but declined to make a statement due to the active police investigation.
