Federal authorities have taken a 42-year-old Michigan man into custody after he allegedly issued death threats targeted at FBI Director Kash Patel.
Anthony Daniel Palazzolo, a resident of Chesterfield Township in Macomb County, was apprehended by federal agents on October 30 following detailed allegations outlined in a newly unsealed criminal complaint.
Court documents reveal that Palazzolo sent a sinister Facebook message to an unnamed associate in early October.
In the social media exchange, Palazzolo allegedly claimed he had 'put a hit out' on the associate before turning his focus toward the FBI chief.
Brandishing explicit language, Palazzolo referred to Patel as a 'punk a**' and declared that he was a 'dead mf too,' court filings revealed.
Palazzolo was interrogated in October and admitted to sending the messages and apologized, saying he had 'no intent to harm anyone,' an FBI agent said in their statement.
But the messages tell a different story. In one message exchange, he vowed to confront agents on their own turf, threatening to come to the FBI office and 'use deadly force against every single one of you government officials.'
The communications did not stop there.

According to court filings, Palazzolo also blitzed the Secret Service, the Supreme Court and a court in Texas with another message, in which he explicitly threatened to sodomize a government official.
Palazzolo appeared in a Detroit federal court on October 30 to face a felony charge of transmitting threatening interstate communications, a crime carrying up to five years in federal prison.
He remains behind bars awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for November 2.
His lawyer denied comment.
The FBI revealed that Palazzolo is no stranger to law enforcement, boasting an extensive criminal record across Michigan, Texas and Florida.
His prior rap sheet includes a 2018 charge for falsely reporting a terrorist threat, as well as a separate charge for making a fake bomb threat.
The explosive charges come against the backdrop of a disturbing surge in federal criminal cases involving violent threats directed at politicians and public officials.
Data compiled by the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center at the University of Nebraska Omaha alongside Chapman University shows that more than 850 threat-related cases have been prosecuted across the country since 2013.

That figure peaked last year with an all-time high of 133 cases, and federal authorities are currently on track to shatter that record this year.
The alarming incident is not the first time threats have hit close to home for the FBI Director.
Earlier this year, federal agents arrested a Massachusetts man after he allegedly sent threatening emails targeting Patel's girlfriend.
26-year-old Alden Welch Ruml allegedly sent a violent email to Alex Wilkins, Patel's girlfriend.
Court documents reveal he said he would be 'happy' when her face is 'canoed by an assault rifle.'
Ruml was taken into custody and charged with making threats in interstate commerce.
The Daily Mail contacted the FBI for comment.
