An Emmy-winning TV reporter has been accused of fueling America's opioid crisis in a 'cash for pills' scheme worth more than $14 million, according to federal authorities.

Clara Wilkerson, 65, was indicted alongside three doctors and the owner of one of the alleged fake clinics, the Department of Justice said on Thursday. 

The anchor and producer who formerly worked for WDIV-TV, as well as stations in Florida and Washington DC, allegedly helped release 2.4 million doses of Oxymorphone, Hydrocodone and Oxycodone into the streets, the indictment claims.

Wilkerson, who produced videos featured on PBS and the Oprah Winfrey Show, allegedly used companies she owns to recruit and pay doctors to illegally prescribe drugs at bogus medical clinics, the grand jury indictment read. 

The media boss currently works as an executive producer and program creator for The Chavis Chronicles, a weekly series on PBC TV Network stations, according to her LinkedIn. 

She allegedly used her companies, CRW Worldwide, LLC and CRW Development, Inc, and recruited medical professionals to take part in the scheme, federal authorities said.

Meghan Markle said she was alerted to 'disturbing' allegations against her father eight years ago - and is 'deeply distressed' by new claims he possessed child sex images.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed claims against Thomas Markle Sr were passed to her in 2018 after a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police's royal protection team.

A Canadian woman was arrested after she was caught on video slapping a male driving instructor and hurling slurs at him in a fight over parking.

The woman, who has not been identified, was arrested for allegedly assaulting the man around 9am on Wednesday in a parking lot in Langley, British Columbia, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said.

According to the interaction, the woman appeared to be upset with him for parking his car 'illegally' across multiple spots in the seemingly deserted lot. 

The now-viral clip showed the irate woman, dressed in a brown and black dress, boots and a jean jacket, smacking the man across the face, causing his sunglasses to fly off. 

She then walked back toward her black SUV, which she parked directly in front of his car. 

'Don't you ever,' the woman said to the man before he asked someone else there to get her license plate number. 

She then pointed a finger at him and yelled: 'Yeah, go ahead! Go back to your country - tell them I said that too!' 

'Born here, b****! Born here, b****!' he responded. 

Cops say they believe an Oregon man killed himself when they tracked him down in a hotel after his girlfriend, her son and her mother were all found dead at their home.

Edward Villa, 45, is suspected of killing Patricia Campbell, 78, her 47-year-old daughter Katie Kinder and her 15-year-old grandson Evan Kinder at a $623,000 house on Southeast Highpointe Street in the affluent town of Happy Valley.

The murders are believed to have happened between Sunday evening and early Monday, though a more concrete timeline is still being established.

Authorities tracked Villa, Katie's boyfriend, down to the South Jetty Inn in Hammond, slightly more than 100 miles northwest of Happy Valley.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the US Marshals Task Force, attended in a bid to arrest Villa.

Marshals surrounded the hotel and tried to make verbal contact with him, only to eventually hear what they thought was a single gunshot inside Villa's room. 

They entered and found him dead.

A Boston father has been convicted of molesting a teenage girl through the seat gap on a JetBlue flight while he was on vacation with his wife and four children.

Jonathan Alan Lefman, 48, assaulted the 17-year-old victim on a flight from Puerto Rico on August 30, 2024, according to the US Attorney's Office in Massachusetts.

Prosecutors said that multiple times throughout the flight, Lefman wedged his fingers between the back and bottom of the seat in front of him, where the girl was sat.

He then touched her buttocks without her permission, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Daily Mail.

The victim was able to identify Lefman as her molester because she saw his reflection leaning between the seats in the seatback monitor in front of her, the court filing said.

She also recorded video on her phone of his fingers protruding through the seat.

Lefman, who initially denied fondling the girl, had been sitting next to his 16-year-old son as he carried out the assaults. His son was not accused of any wrongdoing.

The victim of a 'depraved' stalker who sent her AI photos of her naked today said she fears he will be released from prison under the government's controversial early release scheme.

Paris Shears, 31, bravely told how she endured a 'despicable' campaign of harassment from her 'trusted' family friend Jakob Ward that compelled her to flee her home with her three children and live in Airbnbs.

Ms Shears said 28-year-old Ward – who she considered like a 'brother' – was secretly posing as her ex-partner and bombarding her on Instagram.

Ward sent Ms Shears AI-generated photos of her naked and sent her terrifying packages containing her own underwear and a bag containing his semen.

Jakob Ward, from Tidworth, Wiltshire, admitted stalking the woman causing serious alarm or distress, creating a purported intimate image of an adult, theft, possessing cannabis and possessing a knuckleduster.

Ward pleaded guilty and was remanded into custody for six weeks until his sentencing last Friday. He was jailed for 32 months at Winchester Crown Court.

Judge Christopher Parker KC described the campaign as 'despicable, depraved' and 'completely incomprehensible'.

Actor Dominic West has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding.  

The 57-year-old was caught going 36mph in a 30mph limit zone in his Volvo XC90 in Reigate, Surrey, last month due to repeat offences.

West, who played Prince Charles in Netflix series The Crown, did not attend court proceedings at Guildford Magistrates' Court, nor did he offer any mitigation but indicated a guilty plea in paperwork sent by Surrey Police to his converted brewery home in Wiltshire.

On top of the driving ban, Guildford magistrates ordered the actor, worth £14million, to pay a fine and court costs totalling £326. It is unclear how many points he had on his licence.

A Texas wedding venue refused to return nearly $16,000 to a devastated bride-to-be after her fiancé died suddenly, instead suggesting she could use the money toward another celebration in the future.

The dispute erupted after Diego Hernandez, 25, died unexpectedly in April, seven months before he was due to marry his fiancée at Posey Meadows, a picturesque countryside venue outside San Marcos, southwest of Austin.

Rather than refund the $15,909.28 the couple had already paid, the business initially offered alternatives, including to transfer the reservation to another date or to put the money toward an entirely different event.

When the grieving family asked for their money back, the disagreement escalated into a bitter legal battle, with the venue even filing a countersuit against the woman whose wedding had been shattered by tragedy.

The business has now backed down, dropping its counterclaim and agreeing to refund every penny - but only following a wave of negative publicity.

The dramatic reversal comes after Hernandez's heartbroken mother, Lucy Hernandez, publicly condemned the venue's handling of the ordeal.

A Florida tourist has triggered a massive rescue operation after trying to climb a dangerous California mountain wearing running shoes and a sweater. 

The 39-year-old man spent two nights stranded with a severely injured leg on an icy part of Mount Shasta with limited equipment to keep him warm. 

Up to 30 search and rescue response (SAR) members took part in a terrifying multi-day mission in freezing temperatures that began on October 18. 

According to the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), deputies responded to the tourist's 911 distress call at around 5pm before immediately initiating a search and rescue response (SAR). Authorities notified the USFS Climbing Rangers and the California Highway Patrol air operations for additional aid. 

'At the time of his distress call Sunday evening, the injured climber was wearing only sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and running shoes, and was not equipped for an overnight stay on the glacier, as nighttime temperatures dipped below freezing,' the SCSO wrote in a Facebook statement.
