Brandon Aiyuk Hires Super-Agent Drew Rosenhaus, Eyes NFL Comeback

Brandon Aiyuk, an estranged San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, has made a power move in hiring super-agent Drew Rosenhaus, according to the agent himself.

Rosenhaus passed the info to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reported it Monday.

While speaking with Schefter, Rosenhaus said that he is "working on getting [Aiyuk] back to work and playing again in the NFL." Since Oct. 20, 2024, Aiyuk hasn't competed in an NFL game. In his last contest, which was against the Kansas City Chiefs, he suffered ACL, MCL and meniscus tears to his right knee. (RELATED: Fans Get Stuck In Metro Station After Commanders-Eagles Game)

Since that time, Aiyuk and the 49ers mostly haven't been on the same page. After the wide receiver stopped going to the team facility, the franchise put him on the reserved/left squad list in December.

That move took place after San Francisco voided approximately $27 million of guaranteed money in July 2025 that was included in Aiyuk's contract due to him not doing requisite rehab sessions and check-ins with the organization over that offseason.

After Aiyuk failed to report to training camp in July, he was placed on the reserve/did not report list. If the wide receiver wants to play in the league again, he first has to apply for reinstatement. If that happens, the 49ers will have to make a decision regarding his rights.

In the past, San Francisco has attempted to trade Aiyuk, but have been unsuccessful. If he gets reinstated, the most likely result will be the Niners releasing the wide receiver.

Regardless, San Francisco general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have repeatedly stressed that Aiyuk will never play as a 49er again.
