Greetings, Dear Reader,
Day 2 of being back at work following the birth of my third. Honestly, I'm happy. Happiest I've ever been. Healthy kids, healthy wife, healthy family.
I saw something funny yesterday …
JON 'PEE-WEE HERMAN' OSSOFF IS DOA
Despite his (((handicap))), Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff believes he can run for president in '28 on the Democrat ticket.
Conservative power centers in Washington are quietly worried about Ossoff, particularly his focus on Trump Inc's business dealings. (Let's be honest, getting approval for your own bank from your own regulators is not a great look for the guy who originally promised to drain the swamp.)
Ossoff isn't cringe and lame or weird and gross like most male Democrats. He's also hit a populist line against Trump that might just convince the middle 20% of the country, without listing into outright socialist arguments.
If the left-wing electorate can get over his Jewishness, he might just have a chance.
It's unfortunate then that he recently exposed himself (phrasing) as a spineless coward who almost certainly can't withstand any sort of straight talk, especially if it comes from someone unabashedly masculine.
Rumors have swirled recently in left-wing circles about Trump and his aide who he apparently never travels without. She wrote some "unusually devoted letters" to Trump that ended up in the New York Times. Of course, news of these letters led to a bunch of sexual innuendo.
During a recent campaign speech, Ossoff fanned the flames:
"While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings, he golfs, and trades stocks. See, he doesn't want to do the job. He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar."
You can see from the first half of this quote, Ossoff is kind of on to something. Why are we bombing (and then rebuilding) a foreign country when we can't even protect and build our own?
But namechecking Natalie Harp like that. Yikes. It kind of reeks of slut-shaming.
Nobody hates women more than other women, and college-educated women make up an outsized portion of the Dem electorate. Nevertheless, they saw a powerful man snipe a junior female like that and pounced.
Biden Mouthpiece turned Very Serious Cable News Anchor Jen Psaki, who worked the same White House section as Harp, gave Ossoff an opportunity to explain himself.
His mealy-mouthed response was pure weakness:
"Well, I've heard this particular aide referred to as his security blanket. And I think we could say that about any number of the senior aides in the White House. They're not telling him what he needs to hear. They're telling him what he wants to hear. And the nation is at war, and we cannot afford that. We need a team in the White House — we need folks at the State Department, at the Defense Department, in the United States Congress who take their jobs seriously. Those sailors out on the Lincoln, they do their jobs with excellence and dedication every single day. They didn't sign up for luxury. They signed up to defend the country. And the president, surrounded by enablers in the West Wing, is playing golf, is trading stock, and is decorating his ballroom. It's a disgrace."
He didn't name Harp again despite Psaki asking directly, "Why did you invoke Natalie Harp?" He didn't own the implication of his statement, whether it was to apologize or to double down.
It would have gone a long way in either case.
Hey, Jen, I'm just saying Trump is a known philanderer and Harp's love letters to him were beyond over the top. Am I saying Trump is probably too busy chasing skirts to pay attention to the war he started? I mean, isn't it obvious? At worst, he's cheating on his wife while he cheats on America, at best, she's just one of dozens of people in the White House taken with the Trump cult.
But, ladies and gents, the modern Democrat Party does not work this way. They do not say what things actually are. They call cutting sexual organs off minors "healthcare" for God's sake.
In striking contrast to Ossoff, a reporter asked Donald Trump about the Natalie Harp quote.
"Who said that?"
"Jon Ossoff, it was Ossoff."
"Oh, you mean Pee-wee Herman? Pee-wee Herman lookalike? No, I would rather do other things. We're building a great facility here … " Followed by about five minutes of him talking about his new ballroom and the super secret basement military facility underneath ("we dug down five stories!").
And just like that, Ossoff's ambitions were obliterated from orbit.
A normal politician might have launched into some schoolmarm boilerplate about shaming women in the workplace and how Ossoff's implication was "inappropriate" or "unprofessional" or any number of HR words.
Not Trump.
That'll be Ossoff's main problem if he ever wants to beat Vance or Rubio or whoever he sees as his primary obstacle to the White House.
He can't shoot straight when it counts the most.
