Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico said Scripture requires the government to guarantee health coverage, telling a Texas church crowd that the New Testament makes a public health insurance option a Christian obligation.

Talarico made the argument at a town hall he held at a DeSoto church on July 20, footage of which his campaign posted Saturday under the title “James Talarico Unveils Plan For Black Voters.” The Austin Democrat argued the country should “finish the work of President Obama” and pass a public option, then grounded the pitch in the Gospels.

An elderly mail carrier in Stuart, Florida, was arrested July 20 in an animal hoarding case that has shocked the community.

The suspect was identified as 77-year-old Gail Giustino, who had allegedly been trapping cats she found on her mail route and taking them home, Fox News reported Saturday.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) confirmed that he has no intention of ditching the Democrat Party, pointing out that he votes “90-something percent with Democrats.”

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony Fauci, who also served as Chief Medical Adviser to President Joe Biden and on the President’s Coronavirus Task Force under President Donald Trump, was “caught in actual lies” on the origins of the COVID virus and he thinks we shouldn’t do gain of function research.

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “The Bottom Line,” Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) said that Russia is helping Iran target Americans and China is selling arms to Iran.

While discussing the war in Iran and possible future strikes against Iran, Perry said that we will need to have more involvement from our partners in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia in Iran. Guest co-host Marcus Lemonis then said, [relevant exchange begins around 3:30] “Well, it doesn’t help that China continues to sell them arms, that definitely doesn’t help.”
