Toxicology results show a cocktail of sedative-like drugs may have played a part in the strangulation deaths of two Massachusetts children allegedly killed by their own mother in what is yet another case of a mom charged with the homicides of her own defenseless kids.

Now, according to results released by the county medical examiner two days after the indictment, autopsies revealed the deaths were not only by "mechanical asphyxia" but also the "combined effects of substances including zolpidem, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and lorazepam," the Boston Globe reported this week.

The IV team tasked with executing murderer Christa Pike in Tennessee went through approximately 10 needles before injecting her with what was supposed to be a lethal double dose of pentobarbital, court documents filed by her attorney said.

Attorney Randy Spivey detailed what reportedly happened the evening Pike was supposed to be executed, Fox 35 reported Friday.

Christa Pike, 50, was hospitalized after surviving two doses of pentobarbital as the state tried to execute her on Sept. 30 for the 1995 stabbing death of classmate Colleen Slemmer.

“The IV team went through about 10 needles and tried several IV sites on both arms for nearly an hour leading up to the injections, attorney Randy Spivey wrote. Spanish police officers on Thursday arrested what local media outlets described as a “Muslim man” in Ceuta who allegedly housed and exploited 74 illegal migrants — including minors that show signs of physical abuse, in what has been locally described as a “Horror House.”

The shocking discovery stems from a broader anti-illegal migration operation in Ceuta’s El Principe neighborhood, leading to the arrest of an individual identified by El Mundo only as a “Muslim man” and a resident of the Spanish North African Exclave. Local outlets describe El Principe as one of the neighborhoods “most punished” by the continued presence of invading Moroccan migrants in the area.
