Republican gubernatorial candidate Bobby Charles took on all comers at the Auburn Mall, hosting a Surrounded–style question-and-answer forum that invited open debate and discussion without restrictions or time limits.
The unscripted event took place less than a week before Election Day.
An estimated 100-plus people gathered at the Androscoggin County Republican headquarters inside the Auburn Mall to participate in or observe the event.

Charles addressed a wide range of issues, fielding challenges from some attendees while hearing ideas and observations from others.
The unconventional town hall format resembled the open-debate events popularized by conservative commentators Steven Crowder, known for his “Change My Mind” series, and the late Charlie Kirk, whose “Prove Me Wrong” events invited students to challenge his views on college campuses.
