NEW: Trump Calls On Ilhan Omar To Resign After New Bombshell

President Donald Trump is demanding that Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar resign from Congress after a bombshell federal court filing identified the Minnesota lawmaker under a different name, reigniting a controversy surrounding her identity and past marriage.

Trump delivered the blistering remarks Thursday during a rally in Iowa, seizing on newly reported court documents connected to a federal investigation involving the outspoken Democratic congresswoman.

"It was just revealed just a little while ago that … her name is not Ilhan Omar, the one that she used to get elected and sworn into Congress," Trump told supporters. "She used a fake name to be sworn in. I assume she must immediately have to resign from Congress."

The president went even further, suggesting Omar's departure from Congress was practically inevitable.

"The Republicans have just picked up a seat in the House."

At the center of the controversy is a court filing submitted Wednesday by the office of U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro.

According to Fox News, the document identifies the congresswoman as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar."

The filing concerns federal prosecutors' efforts to keep documents sealed following an Oct. 12 search of Omar's Washington, D.C.-area residence by Homeland Security Investigations agents.

Donald Trump argued that the newly reported name raises serious questions about Omar's political career and the identity she used when taking office.

However, the court filing does not establish that Omar used a fraudulent name or committed wrongdoing when she was sworn into Congress.

The revelation has also renewed attention on allegations involving Omar's former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom critics have repeatedly claimed is her brother.

Omar has consistently denied those accusations, including claims that the marriage was arranged to obtain immigration benefits.

During Thursday's rally, Trump sharply criticized the Minnesota Democrat and questioned her background.

"She's been a scammer for a long time. I'm pretty good at watching that stuff, and she comes from a non-country, basically. Somalia has no government, has no nothing. … All they do is run around shooting each other. Then she comes over here. The Constitution gives me absolute right to freedom of speech," Trump told the crowd.

Omar's office quickly pushed back against the president's allegations, rejecting the suggestion that the congresswoman had used a false identity.

"This is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name," a spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

The spokesperson also dismissed the accusations as a "desperate smear" and said it was "disgraceful that the media continues to give this lie oxygen."

The latest confrontation follows Omar's appearance Wednesday on MS NOW, where host Chris Hayes questioned her about the longstanding allegations surrounding her previous marriage.

Omar described the accusation as "insane" and denied that she had knowingly married a relative.

When Hayes asked whether she was related to Elmi, the congresswoman responded, "Not to my knowledge."

That answer has drawn renewed scrutiny as questions surrounding her marriage records and family history continue to circulate.

Still, no publicly disclosed evidence has conclusively established that Omar and Elmi are siblings or that their marriage was fraudulent.

Omar's office has maintained that the accusations are politically motivated, while Trump has made clear that he believes the newly reported court filing warrants her immediate departure from Congress.

The dispute arrives as federal authorities continue examining matters connected to the search of Omar's residence.
