Taxpayer-funded Oregon State University professor reported student to woke 'bias squad' for saying that there are only two sexes

Taxpayer-funded Oregon State University professor reported student to woke 'bias squad' for saying that there are only two sexes

An Oregon university teacher reported a student for 'transphobic' views after he submitted a report challenging gender theory, according to a new report.

The unidentified professor, who teaches an eight-week summer Canvas course at the publicly funded Oregon State University, said that the undergraduate student's work 'was very transphobic.'

The teacher reported the student to the school's woke bias response team after reading his report that argued that there are only two sexes, according to records obtained by The College Fix.

Students were required to complete an 'action project' for their final assignment – where they had to identify a local issue, find people who could talk about the topic, define a timeline and suggest initial steps toward solving the problem.

The student, whose name was also redacted from the report, chose gender theory as his topic. He challenged the idea that gender exists on a spectrum, the report said.

According to the report, roughly 20 bias complaints have been lodged against Oregon students since the beginning of the Fall semester in 2025.

The educator said that while the student had performed really well during the course, they were concerned about what the student reported in his final assignment.

The instructor wrote that the project contained 'extensive examples of transphobia.'

'I am reporting because I have concerns about the action project submitted by [name redacted] who has consistently done well in the course and not struggled with any of the other social justice content,' the educator said.

'Many of the claims he makes in his paper, and the sources he uses, are very transphobic,' the instructor further added.

The instructor explained to the bias response team that while the other projects were 'mostly prospective,' the student mentioned in the report did 'not understand the differences between sex and gender, or that both sex and gender exist on a spectrum outside of the binary.'

The educator also questioned the student's research methods and the sources he used for his assignment.

They said that while the project did not require 'peer-reviewed resources,' the sources used by the student are not 'rigorous' and 'accurate.'

They added that the student's views did not align with the university's values.

Oregon State University's mission statement officials reads: 'As a land grant institution committed to teaching, research, and outreach and engagement, Oregon State University promotes economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress for the people of Oregon, the nation, and the world.'

The instructor said that the complaint goes beyond academic criticism and 'these views are not in keeping with CoEd or OSU values.'

'Most importantly, I am concerned about the impact these views may have,' the teacher said in the report.

It is not clear if any of the officials, including the instructor's supervisor, program chair, department head, assistant dean and student support team, responded to the complaint.

Several other reports have been filed in the past that targeted students for their views on sex being binary, the outlet reported.

With this report, the educator said he hoped that the situation is resolved with 'more education.'

'I am hoping that he is confused, was misled or is uninformed on these topics,' the professor said.

Angela Morabito, communications director for the Defense of Freedom Institute, said the complaint looked more like a punishment.

'Whoever filed this bias report is trying to leverage the power of the school to punish someone for the 'crime' of disagreeing with woke gender ideology,' Morabito told The College Fix.

She added that bias reporting systems can have a negative effect on student expression, especially when controversial viewpoints are involved.

'Because that ideology does not tolerate dissent, its adherents insist that anyone who disagrees must be indoctrinated into submission,' Morabito said.

She further said that the case represents 'another shocking example' of bias response teams being used in ways that may threaten free speech and academic freedom on campus.
