Incumbent Senator Jim Risch, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump, has won re-election to a fourth term in the United States Senate, defeating two

independent candidates and one Libertarian following the withdrawal of the Democrat nominee.

On Tuesday, with 97% of the total votes counted, Risch (R-Idaho) secured 391,395 votes, or 56.5% of the vote, according to the Associated Press. Meanwhile, Independent candidate Todd Achilles earned 33.6% of the vote, Independent candidate Natalie Fleming gained 7% of the vote and Libertarian candidate Matt Loesby received 2.9% of the vote.

President Trump has supported Risch throughout his re-election campaign, writing on Truth Social that the senator "is doing a tremendous job."

Risch, 83, has served in the upper chamber since 2009. His tenure in Idaho has focused heavily on natural resource management, forestry policy, and water infrastructure development.

As Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Risch holds significant influence over foreign policy. He helped author the bipartisan Strategic Competition Act regarding national security strategy in Asia, backed Senate approval for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) expansion, and supported defense initiatives following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The race took a turn in late July when David Roth, who won the Democrat primary in May with approximately 62% of the vote, announced his withdrawal from the Senate race.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my campaign for the United States Senate," a statement on his campaign website reads. "I entered this race because I believe deeply in what Democrats are fighting for across Idaho. A full week of work should be enough to pay the bills. Every family deserves affordable healthcare. Government should protect our freedoms, not dictate what books we can read, who we can love, or how we live our lives."

"I have concluded that I can make the greatest difference by focusing my time and energy on helping Democrats win up and down the ballot and in communities across Idaho," he went on.
