The "Euphoria" star grew up in Spokane and said her family has been personally affected by the tragedy.

Rather than simply donating money, Sweeney and Braun quietly swooped in to lend a hand, volunteering alongside Second Harvest Food Bank and World Central Kitchen and personally distributing food and providing relief to community members affected by the wildfires.

When I first started writing my column for the Daily Caller, I saw an Axios piece about how many women were in the workforce. Of course, Axios was treating the closing gender gap in the workplace as a celebration of how far women's equality has come in the last several decades. The author even gleefully pointed out that the female line of the workforce graph was going up while the male line was going down.
Hidden in the data was the fact that seven million prime-aged men were already sitting out of the labor market. This was in 2023, and the demoralization of men has only gotten worse.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Thursday granted President Trump's emergency motion for a stay, temporarily blocking the BBC from accessing his financial records in his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the company.
The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust sought the emergency stay after U.S. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett ordered July 27 that the BBC be given access to certain financial records. Without the stay, the trust would have been required to produce tax returns, financial statements and ownership records for about 400 corporate entities by Thursday, according to the order and CNBC.
Trump's lawyers argued that the BBC's request was "shockingly broad" and could cause damage if the company had access to confidential information and the order was later overturned, CNBC reported.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is warning that massive amounts of hidden debt buried deep inside global financial markets could trigger sudden, painful market crashes, with the rampant borrowing itself hiding this systemic danger — at least for the moment.
Dimon said a danger of hedge funds and elite traders borrowing off-the-books debt, often through special purpose vehicles (SPVs) or other securitizations. These instruments are used to inflate market bets, seen in near-record numbers, and allow serious structural issues in the economy to hide behind what appears to be a strong banking system — with the overall risk to investors also remaining obscured.

Republican Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that he plans to return to the Senate after over 50 days of hospitalization.
McConnell's latest hospitalization was due to a fall in his Washington home, where he was briefly left unconscious June 14. McConnell later developed pneumonia while he was being rehabilitated and has since been absent from the Senate.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has sustained its forecast for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, predicting that it will be below-average, according to the announcement Thursday from the agency in its final outlook for the 2026 hurricane season.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted to repeal the national TV ownership limit on Thursday, sparking anger and pushback, as plans are being made to take the decision straight to court.
The decision, made in a 2-1 vote along party lines, repealed the 22-year-old rule that limited a company to owning stations that could reach no more than 39 percent of the U.S. television audience, instead allowing it to be handled on a case-by-case basis, according to NBC News. Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders dismissed criticism from Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman on Sunday, telling “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker the first-term senator was “out of touch” with Democrats.

Two pilots died Sunday when their firefighting helicopters slammed into each other above a wind-driven wildfire west of Athens.
The two aircraft went down in the Psatha area which had leased both Bell helicopters and put a two-person crew on each, according to the Associated Press (AP), citing Greek fire service. Emergency teams pulled all four crew members from the scene. Two of them, a Greek national and a Danish national, were killed, while the other two, a Greek national and a British national, survived, AP reported.
