Talarico’s College Ice Cream Buddy Now Does Gay Porn, Is Still Followed By Senate Hopeful

It's long been reported that James Talarico has a favorite "drag queen" and follows numerous porn accounts on social media. One of them, a gay porn actor, appears to be

more than a random follow, but rather an old friend from college.

The Texas Senate Democrat candidate follows an account on X belonging to a man named Rustin Charles Low, a gay porn actor who routinely posts sexually suggestive and nude photos while promoting his explicit porn page. The pair appear to have known each other at the University of Texas at Austin, with numerous social media posts indicating that the porn actor and Talarico interacted regularly, with Low flirtatiously asking Talarico for a "history lesson" as payback for not buying him ice cream.

The revelation comes after Talarico faced criticism last year for following numerous porn accounts on Instagram while campaigning on "biblical Christianity." Talarico has made faith a central part of his pitch to conservative Texas voters and is locked in a tight race against Republican candidate Ken Paxton that could determine control of the Senate.

Posts on the page followed by Talarico include Low posing naked on an outdoor roof, a nude workout photo, and another where he wears a sports bra. The page promotes a more pornographic "NSFW" X account that is not followed by Talarico.

Talarico did not respond to a request for comment. Low, who is also followed by former President Barack Obama, did not respond to inquiries.

Deleted posts from X indicate that the pair knew each other during their college years at the University of Texas at Austin when both were involved in student government. In 2010, Talarico was appointed as executive director of student body government while Low was director of public relations for the student government from May 2011 to April 2012, according to LinkedIn.

Apart from his explicit posts on X, Low has an OnlyFans account and a YouTube channel where he discusses gay sex and other LGBT content. An IMDB page lists several pornographic films Low appears to be credited for under the screen name "Levi Michaels." The biographical information on the page matches Low's city and year of birth in addition to listing "Rustin Low" as an alternative name.

Throughout the campaign, Talarico has faced scrutiny over his stance on issues surrounding gender and sexuality. He has faced criticism for swiftly naming his "favorite" drag queen and his support in the Texas legislature of transgender procedures on kids. During a podcast appearance in August 2023, he named "trans children" as the thing he loved most in the world apart from family and friends.

"I love, I'm just saying this because it's all on my mind, the trans children who showed up yesterday at the state capitol to advocate for their humanity. They shouldn't have to, but it was an inspiration to watch," he said on the "A Superbloom" podcast.

Axios reported last year that Talarico followed OnlyFans accounts, escorts, and other porn actors on Instagram. In one instance, he liked photos from a person with a page on EscortBook, which describes itself as the number one "content management system in the escort industry!"

Talarico brushed off criticism at the time by saying he didn't vet those accounts followed by his campaign and that he supported Texans no matter "how they make their money."

"Well, I very much believe in fighting back when you feel like your neighbors are under attack. And we welcome the support of all Texans regardless of how they make their money," Talarico said after the Instagram story broke. "And I didn't know what these women did on their own time, but I'm not going to judge them for it. I'm also not going to participate in an effort to smear them for clickbait."

Townhall reported last week that Talarico's email was used in December 2010 to sign up for an account on Fling.com, a website for adults looking for casual sex. The account indicated it was interested in "FETISH," "GROUPSEX," "SEXUAL RELATIONS," "ONLINE FLIRTING," and "OTHER," according to the report.

Talarico's legal team responded to the report by arguing that the account was created when his email account was hacked and suggested it would sue the conservative outlet for defamation if it covered the account. His legal team said Talarico "had stopped using" the email "by the time the account was created."

Heading into Election Day, polls show a close race between Paxton and Talarico who is attempting to become the first Democrat to win a statewide race in decades.
