A Biden-appointed federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to pull three ads from government websites and social media just days before the midterm elections.
U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Rochon issued the temporary restraining order Friday afternoon after finding that the challengers had shown a strong likelihood of succeeding on their claim that the ads exceeded what Congress authorized.
The ruling targets three videos by name: $5,000 to Americans, Every Democrat Voted Against No Tax on Tips, and Cost of Socialism.
The legal order and its immediate reach were laid out in this current breakdown:
⚖️ In Common Cause v. Department of Homeland Security (Trump ads), Judge Jennifer Rochon (Southern District of New York) GRANTS IN PART a motion to expand an existing TRO, barring the administration from disseminating three political advertisements featuring President Trump and…

The U.S. District Court order says the administration must immediately remove all three ads from official government websites, including YouTube, Instagram, and similar platforms. It also directs officials to cancel authorized third-party distribution arrangements, including any airing by MAGA Inc.
The order requires the government to serve a copy on MAGA Inc. and file a status report within 24 hours confirming compliance.
Rochon left the order in effect for 14 days, subject to a possible extension.
That is an aggressive move at an extraordinarily sensitive moment. Voters are already casting ballots, Election Day is right around the corner, and one of the blocked ads promoted President Trump's proposal to deliver $5,000 to Americans if Republicans retain control of Congress.
The timing and the substance of the ruling immediately drew a sharp conservative response:

The Associated Press reports that the challengers asked the court to remove at least 13 ads, but Rochon stopped only three at this stage. The judge acknowledged that presidents are generally allowed to explain their policies, defend those policies, and answer political attacks, and she indicated that the government may ultimately prevail over many of the other challenged videos.
That limited scope matters. This was not a blanket declaration that a White House must stop communicating with the public.
It was a targeted temporary order involving three specific ads while the case continues.
The White House, however, is not pretending this was some neutral procedural development. A spokesperson called Rochon a Biden-appointed activist judge and described the decision as a lawless attempt to stop the administration from sharing patriotic videos.
Another same-night report captured the core dispute and the stakes heading into Tuesday:

NEW YORK. On Friday a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to immediately take down three taxpayer-funded online ads, ruling that they were likely illegal partisan propaganda ahead of Tuesday's midterm election. U.S. District Judge Jennifer Rochon of…
The administration argued in court that White House staff may produce material that informs Americans about the president's policies and rebuts attacks on his agenda. The challengers countered that Congress never funded the executive branch to run election-season advertising for partisan advantage.
Rochon's ruling does not settle that entire constitutional and appropriations fight. It freezes these three ads for now, forces an immediate takedown, and puts the administration on a 24-hour compliance clock.
Americans should watch what happens next. The legal question will continue, but the political reality is already here: a Biden-appointed judge has removed three messages supporting President Trump's agenda at the very moment voters are deciding who controls Congress.
And that timing is impossible to ignore.
