Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has now filed the paperwork to declare his intention to become an official prospect for the 2027 WNBA Draft.

In a social media post on Monday, Kanter says “rules are rules” as he is shown in the video filling out the paperwork to declare for the WNBA Draft.

In the video, Kanter wears a black t-shirt, upon which a message reads: “Invest in women, Pay women. Hire women.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has published an essay outlining a philosophy for developing AI that he says should center on individual empowerment rather than concentrated institutional control.

In the essay, Zuckerberg argues that superintelligent AI should be distributed widely to individuals rather than restricted to a small number of companies, governments or institutions. He frames the approach around three principles: individual empowerment as “the source of prosperity,” invention as “the primary purpose of superintelligence,” and a balance of power as “the foundation of safety.” The essay extends Zuckerberg’s AI optimism position established at the end of July.

Zuckerberg criticized what he described as fatalistic rhetoric from other AI developers. “I do not understand why anyone who believes that AI will eliminate most jobs and much of humanity’s relevance would rush to build that future,” he wrote, adding that concentrating power in the hopes an “absolute power will benevolently provide for humanity” has historically failed to produce safe outcomes.

He outlined several products Meta is building under this philosophy, including a personal AI agent meant to work “24/7” on tasks such as health monitoring, career planning and hobbies,

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) announced that she had decided to start freezing her eggs, explaining that it was a choice she was “making to feel more in control” of her life.

In a series of Instagram stories, Ocasio-Cortez shared that she “felt empowered to make this choice,” the New York Post reported. Ocasio-Cortez, 36, also spoke about how she has been asked about a “potential 2028 presidential run,” pointing out that a lot of lawmakers “approach these considerations or these decisions through the larger context” of their lives.

Police arrested a man with a lengthy criminal history who is now accused of randomly sucker-punching a 61-year-old woman in Miami, Florida, on Thursday.

The incident happened in the Little Havana neighborhood when the woman was seen on surveillance camera as she walked along Southwest 8th Street, NBC Miami reported Thursday.

The suspect in the case was identified as 40-year-old Tavaris Greene whom the outlet said had been arrested several times in years prior and served time in prison for stealing and burglary.

Video footage showed the suspect, wearing a dark colored shirt and camouflage pants, as he approached the victim. As she moved to walk past him, the man allegedly punched her in the face and she fell to the ground.

The suspect ran from the scene as the woman lay on the pavement until locals ran over to help her.

A small cruise ship operating in Southeast Alaska made an unexpected detour Monday night to help a 21-foot skiff that had run out of fuel between Petersburg and Juneau. Mark Zuckerberg’s $300 million superyacht reportedly was closer to the crippled vessel but ignored calls for help.

The Alaska Beacon reports that Michael Love, a passenger aboard the small cruise ship that rescued the stranded boat, described the incident on social media. What caught his attention most, he said, was when the ship’s captain announced that a nearby yacht belonging to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was closer to the stranded boat but had not answered the radio call for help.

“There was near unanimous booing when the captain announced this,” Love wrote in a post on the social media platform Bluesky.

Vessel tracking data from the area supports part of that account. The tracking shows the $300 million, 387-foot superyacht Launchpad slowing to a halt outside Farragut Bay while the UnCruise Adventures ship Wilderness Legacy travels around and past the Launchpad, stops near the apparent location of the skiff, and tows it into sheltered Farragut Bay.

As a result of the ruling, public-facing institutions, including government branches and private businesses that frequently interact with the public, must provide single-sex spaces, such as female-only toilets.

Yet some on the political left appear set to defy the ruling, including the leftist-controlled Lambeth Council in London, which has vowed to defy such rules and continue to allow transgender individuals free rein in traditionally female spaces.

A further five London boroughs have also said that they intend to maintain an “inclusive” approach, claiming that the rules to protect women “feel like an attack” on transgender individuals.

LONDON (AP) – The alleged leader of an Irish organized crime gang is on his way back to Ireland from Dubai to face charges that he ran an international drug smuggling and money laundering empire with tentacles that stretched to Britain, Spain and the U.S.

An Irish military plane carrying Daniel Kinahan, 49, is expected to land Sunday evening at an airport outside of Dublin after courts in the United Arab Emirates refused to block his extradition, Irish media reported.

Kinahan is expected to be taken directly to the Special Criminal Court in Dublin where he will face charges of directing an organized crime group, Irish broadcaster RTE reported. He will then be held at the high-security Portlaoise Prison about 90 miles (145 kilometers) southwest of the capital.

Ireland’s Special Criminal Court handles all organized crime and terrorism cases, as well as others where prosecutors believe the ordinary courts are inadequate to ensure the “effective administration of justice.” Cases are heard by a panel of three judges without a jury.

A man who reportedly became angry after being denied alcohol entered a Riverton, Utah, convenience store Friday with a shotgun and was shot dead by a bystander.

KUTV reported the man entered the convenience store and was denied an alcohol sale because he did not have identification. He allegedly responded by confronting the clerk and was then coaxed out of the store by other customers.

KSL noted the man had become “argumentative” and “belligerent” before having to leave the store. He then got into his vehicle and drove around, only to circle back to the store and enter carrying a shotgun, according to the report.

The Gephardt Daily pointed out that an armed bystander engaged the man when he re-entered the store, fatally shooting him. One report indicated that two armed bystanders may have fired at the man.

Riverton public information officer Nate Slack observed, “I think this is why a lot of people do conceal carry just to protect themselves in situations like this. Obviously a very unfortunate situation, but they do occur; they are rare, however, especially here in Riverton.”
