One Nation volunteer rushed to hospital after he was attacked with a baseball bat at his home

A One Nation volunteer was allegedly assaulted at his Torquay home in an incident that has sparked fresh concerns about political violence just weeks before Victorians head to the polls.

Victoria Police allege a 60-year-old Torquay man was assaulted with a baseball bat at a property on Scorpio Street about 7.45pm on Sunday.

One Nation Victoria said the alleged victim was a party volunteer and claimed the incident occurred after One Nation signs displayed on the property were interfered with.

In a statement, state leader Warren Pickering described the alleged attack as 'un-Australian' and said political violence should never be tolerated.

'Political violence or intimidation of any kind against anyone is unacceptable in this country,' Pickering said.
