A one-year-old boy was found dead in a cot after a horrific house fire, prompting a police investigation.
Emergency services were called to a home on Howie Place in Collie, 200km south of Perth, at about 2.30pm on Sunday.
Police said several people who were inside the home at the time of the fire managed to get out safely.
'However, a one-year-old child was located deceased,' a WA Police statement said.
The toddler's aunt, Kea Close, told 7News the family did not want to disclose the boy's name, but had been left heartbroken over the loss of the sixteen-month-old.
'We lost our little man,' she said, adding that her sister had been outside the house with two of her children when the fire began in a bedroom.
'He was asleep in there, and she's gone to open the door and the window's just combusted.
'She couldn't see anything from the smoke but when she got to the cot, it was just in flames. There was nothing she could do.'

Ms Close said the fire burnt quickly and that the 'whole house is gone'.
