Dems' 'Join Or Die' Traitor Treatment Comes With A Side Of Hypocrisy

The Democratic Party is about to make the full-scale heel-turn into a pro-radical Islam, anti-American, anti-Jewish party.

Ben Shapiro

Michigan Congresswoman Haley Stevens, a lifelong Democrat who's been in Congress since 2018, has endorsed Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate for the Michigan Senate seat.

And now, according to the legacy media, the Democratic Party, the entire left-wing podcasting slopsphere, she's evil. Full stop.

Haley Stevens opposed the pro-jihadist Democratic candidate for the Senate, and she — not he — is the enemy.

In Stevens's last representative primary, she won 87% of the vote. She ran in the Democratic primaries for Senate against Abdul El-Sayed and lost very, very narrowly, in large part because of skewed polling that suggested she was going to lose big.

And then, over the course of the last week, she made one demand for her to endorse and campaign with El-Sayed: that he denounce conspiratorial hatred of Jews.

He wouldn't do it.

So she endorsed his opponent, Mike Rogers. And now the Democratic Party has unpersoned her; they say she is no longer a Democrat. They've expelled her from the Michigan Democratic Party. They yell at her; they say she's evil and a traitor.

No matter what happens in that Michigan election, the Democratic Party on a national level, the legacy media on a national level, the left-wing podcast slopsphere on a national level, have made their standard absolutely clear: It is better to be an America-hating, pro-jihadi Democrat than to be a Democrat who stands against him.

That is the Democratic Party, and it means the Democratic Party is about to make the full-scale heel-turn into a pro-radical Islam, anti-American, anti-Jewish party.

It is important to note who is okay with the Democratic Party, because this isn't just about how people vote in Michigan. The reason I've been putting outsized emphasis on Abdul El-Sayed is that a party that tolerates, promotes, and champions the evils of Abdul El-Sayed is a party that reflects that evil.

Abdul Sattar is a radical candidate. He's not just radical in terms of his pro-jihadism; he's an anti-American scumbag. In 2019, he suggested that border security and the police are white supremacists. He said:

Build a wall. Why? So that those brown folks don't come to our country; ban the Muslims. Why? So those brown folks leave or don't come to our country. Blue Lives Matter in response to black lives. Why? Because they protect us from the black lives who we know inherently are dangerous. This is the logic of white primacy as it plays out in our political culture.

If you like the cops, if you like borders, this is because you're a white supremacist, according to the Democratic Senate candidate in Michigan. That same Democratic Senate candidate in 2020 admitted he would like to eliminate all private insurance in the country and destroy the so-called private option. He wants the government to run your health care. He said:

What Medicare for all does is it does away with the private insurance market, right? It now has one single payer. That's why we call it single payer, right? One insurance. And that is the government of the United States. It now can negotiate on your behalf, negotiating for everyone. And because it's the government, it covers everyone. It solves all of these problems.

He still agrees with all of that. Last week, he actually confirmed that. He says we ought to abolish ICE.

This is a mainstream Democratic candidate for higher office.

In a debate a couple of months ago, he said, "I believe that we don't need ICE. In fact, we can go back to INS, back when we were a lot more safe and secure when it came to immigration. And then we need to make sure we have a clear pathway to citizenship."

And, of course, Abdul Sattar says the Second Amendment no longer applies; basically, the Second Amendment only means the right to a musket. As for your gun, they could take it away:

I'm going to swear an oath to the Constitution. Constitution has a Second Amendment in it. But the Second Amendment, just so we all are clear, even the most conservative folks, they hew to this idea called originalism. And originalism is the idea that you should interpret the Constitution in the context in which the Constitution was written, when they promised the right to bear arms, they had muskets. So yeah, everyone should have, like, equal rights to a musket.

El-Sayed is also a person who said on "60 Minutes" this weekend with Ross Douthat that parents do not have the right to protect their children from men in their locker rooms because, after all, the internet exists and your young girls are likely to see male appendages, if not in the locker room, then on the internet anyway.

Douthat asked, "What about the rights of parents to control over their children's education? Because a lot of places where there's tension between Islam and Muslims voters, and what I'm calling cultural liberalism, are around issues like, 'What is taught in school? What happens with transgender kids on sports teams?' and so on. These are places where rights are in conflict, right? What do you think happens there?"

"I don't know that that's actually true," El-Sayed answered, continuing:

I think we manufacture these social issues. Because here's the thing about it, Ross, do you have an iPhone in your pocket? Probably. Or is it an iPhone or a Samsung? You have a phone in your pocket, right? You can get access to everything and anything in the whole world, all the world's information in your pocket. The notion somehow that you are going to prevent your child from being exposed to something that you may find disagreeable, and that that is going to be because of school, is so profoundly outdated, because, of course, you have all the information and they have all the information.

So here's the thing about it. I think it's really important for us to recognize that the free flow of information is actually a beautiful thing. It's really important. And the most important thing you can do is not try to protect a person from seeing a thing. It's about trying to make sure that as you coach your kid through the world, that you are engaging with them and saying, here's what I believe, here's what you may see in the world. You get to make your choices about who you're going to be in the world, but that's going to require us to make do with the fact that, like the internet is a real thing. And this debate about like, "what's taught in a classroom," I think has been made into a cultural flashpoint because a lot of the folks who want to make this a topic of conversation don't want to be talking about the real issues that we face in our lives.

You must understand that what he's saying is full-scale psychotic. As a parent of five, this is nuts. The idea that because the internet exists, schools therefore should allow boys into girls' locker rooms? That same exact logic could be used to suggest that schools ought to teach pornography to your children. Because after all, there's lots of porn on the internet.

He doesn't believe any of this. I promise you, in his home community of Dearborn, they're not letting the boys into the girls' locker rooms. That is not a real thing.

But Abdul El-Sayed is a wolf in wolf's clothing.

He's having trouble closing the deal in Michigan. Black voters in Michigan are not in his corner. He's having to spend the closing days of this campaign trying to campaign for the black vote in Michigan. An Insider Advantage poll last week showed him winning just 47% of the black vote in Michigan. If he wins that percentage of the vote, he's going to lose. And there are major Democrats who are coming out against him who are black. That includes Michigan State Representative Karen Whitsett, who was a Democrat until March. She said:

We cannot keep sitting here saying that we're going to vote blue no matter who, and we don't even have a seat at the table. We don't even know what address or where the table is. And we're going to sit here and let Obama and anybody else who wants to come in and tell us, hey, you need to vote for this person, even though he has a dual citizenship? And, you know, yes, this family is parts of this and that and the Brotherhood. And no, it doesn't matter. You don't see that. It doesn't matter. What?

All of this is putting aside the fact that Abdul El-Sayed is a fellow traveler of the Muslim Brotherhood, that he is in sympathy with members of Hezbollah, in sympathy with members of Hamas, and in sympathy with the Iranian government.

All of that is putting aside the fact that the members of his family are Muslim Brotherhood fellow travelers. He himself was a member of the Muslim Student Association, which had its roots in the Muslim Brotherhood, and he courted voters at mosques where speakers dubbed the United States the "House of Satan" and called for the final annihilation of the Jews, according to the New York Post.

His entire campaign has been rife with this sort of trash. This all came to a head because of an ad that was put out by a political action committee associated with Cenk Uygur, a psychotic anti-Semite.

The ad blames the Jews and blames funding of the Israeli military through grants to come back to the American military-industrial complex for the rising price of bananas, which is asinine.

The idea is that the nefarious Jews are taking their money and spending it on bombs in the Middle East to genocide Palestinians, and that's what's making your bananas expensive.

The Democrats have been patting pro-radical Islam members of their caucus on the head for years now: Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Zohran Mamdani, Lisa Chevalier, and, of course, Abdul El-Sayed. The Michigan Democratic Party chair said, "Congresswoman Stevens is not a current member of the Michigan Democratic Party, nor will she be in the future."  Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (who once wrote a book on anti-Semitism, which is like O.J. Simpson writing, "If I Did It"), an absolute schmuck of a human, said, "This is a despicable betrayal."

What Stevens did was an act of political courage. She knows she's destroying her own political career.

Every so often you see people who actually do the right thing, even at the cost of their own political career.

In 2018, Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, who was the chief rabbi of the U.K. and remained studiously apolitical, finally made a political speech. It was about anti-Semitism, and it came in the wake of the British Labor Party embracing Jeremy Corbyn, who full-scale hates the Jews.

Rabbi Sacks said that there were basically three stages of metastasizing hatred. (This also applies, by the way, to anti-Americanism.) Stage one is when it moves from the fringes to the mainstream. It starts off at the fringes. It's just something amusing or a little bit weird. And then it moves to the mainstream. That's stage one. That was the Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib stage.

Then there's the second stage when a mainstream party realizes there's no cost to embracing all of this. That is the Zohran Mamdani stage where the Democratic Party decided to just grab it. "These jihadists are all wonderful. They're part of us now."

The final stage, when the cancer eats the entire body politic, is when people are punished for speaking out against the evil.

The Democratic Party spent a decade and a half fulfilling the first stage, moving all of this garbage from the fringe to center stage. Then, with the selection of people like Abdullah El-Sayed and support for Mamdani and company, they have now moved full-scale to stage two, where they realize there's no real cost to embracing all of this stuff openly.

That is why by 2028, you will have a question on the Democratic primary stage about whether Israel is a genocidal apartheid state.

And now the Democratic Party is already in stage three: terminal, anti-Semitic, anti-American brain rot.

That's where we are. That's where you punish people for saying the opposite.

And that's what's happening to Haley Stevens right now.
