Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's 26-year-old son-in-law, Republican Michael Alfonso, is set to make history as the youngest member of Congress.
Alfonso won approximately 56 percent of the vote against Clark's 44 percent in Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District, inheriting the seat after Republican Tom Tiffany vacated it to run for governor, ultimately losing.
The Associated Press called the race for Alfonso at around 10pm, with unofficial results showing him leading Clark 56.1 percent to 43.9 percent with 79 percent of the vote counted.
His victory means he will enter Congress younger than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was when she first won the election in 2018, aged 29.
Ocasio-Cortez had already lost her title as the youngest member of Congress to Democrat Maxwell Frost in 2022, now 29, when he was elected at just 25.
Alfonso will now take that title from Frost.
Alfonso, who is married to Duffy's daughter Evita, will be the first member of Congress born in the 2000s.

Alfonso married Evita Duffy, daughter of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Rachel Campos-Duffy, on June 24 2022, at one of President Trump's golf courses in New Jersey.

Despite questions about his age and experience, Alfonso made his youth a central part of his pitch to voters and promoted the president's agenda.

Alfonso's campaign benefited from $1 million transferred from Duffy's former congressional campaign account to a political action committee supporting his candidacy
His victory comes after a bruising Republican primary campaign in which his family connections and lack of political experience became major talking points.
The 26-year-old received the backing of President Donald Trump, who endorsed him as a 'MAGA Warrior,' while his father-in-law also campaigned heavily on his behalf.
Duffy previously represented the same Wisconsin district from 2011 until 2020, before leaving Congress.
Alfonso's campaign also benefited from $1 million transferred from Duffy's former congressional campaign account to a political action committee supporting his candidacy, according to reporting by PBS Wisconsin.
The young Republican grew up in northern Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He previously worked in construction and later produced content for the Dan Bongino Show.
Despite questions about his age and experience, Alfonso made his youth a central part of his pitch to voters, arguing that younger generations deserved a stronger voice in Washington.
He campaigned on affordability, conservative social policies and support for Trump's agenda.
Among his proposals is making the president's tax cuts permanent and introducing measures aimed at lowering healthcare and housing costs.
He has also called for legislation to restrict access to girls' bathrooms to biological females.

Alfonso married his wife on June 24 2022, while the two were 22 years old, at one of President Trump's golf courses in New Jersey.
They welcomed their first child earlier this year, and he has spoken about wanting to build a better future for his young daughter, Rosita.
However, Alfonso's win was not without controversy, with some Republicans questioning whether his political connections had helped propel him ahead of more experienced candidates.
Those criticisms failed to prevent him from securing the Republican nomination in August and going on to win the heavily Republican district in November.
Alfonso's win is a bright spot for Republicans in Wisconsin, where Democrats ousted Republican incumbents Derrick Van Orden in the 3rd Congressional District and Bryan Steil in the 1st Congressional District, flipping both seats.
