Authorities are set to delay the jail release of a convicted paedophile police officer over fears a lynch mob will hunt him down after his new address was leaked online.

The families of three children molested by the ex-cop have now accused NSW parole board of betrayal after learning he was due to be released from jail on Sunday.

They were also horrified to discover plans were allegedly in place for Robert John Wotton, 58, to move into a home near a local primary school. 

Wotton was found guilty in 2022 of a series of sex attacks on two girls and a boy, all aged under ten at the time.

The attacks between 2007 and 2017 involved repeated indecent assaults against the children inside their homes, including forcing one of the girls to touch his penis as they sat on her bed.

The Daily Mail understands Wotton was due to be released on parole from Kirkconnell Correctional Centre in NSW's Central Tablelands region on Sunday, four years and nine months after he was jailed.

A fire has ripped through Adolf Hitler's Eagle's Nest mountain retreat in Bavaria, with German police detaining a suspected arsonist.

Around 200 firefighters were deployed to battle the blaze at the Nazi dictator's remote and difficult-to-access Kehlsteinhaus residence in southern Germany.

Crews saw flames rising high into the air as they approached, finding the building 'completely ablaze', police said on Saturday.

'A suspicious person was taken into temporary custody,' police said in a later statement, adding that nobody was injured.

Police spokeswoman Lisa Maier said firefighters struggled to tackle the fire due to its location at an altitude of 1,834 metres (6,000 feet).

The building was only accessible with 'heavy breathing apparatus', she said.

Authorities were alerted to the fire on Friday evening, when a smoke detector triggered a fire alarm at around 9:50 pm (1950 GMT), police said.

No potential reason for the fire was given, but the German media reported that the investigators suspected it was the result of arson.

Former Port Adelaide player-turned-gym owner Daniel Stewart has died suddenly at the age of 37 after suffering a medical episode, it can be revealed.

Stewart, who played for the Power between 2010 and 2013, died on Friday. 

The father-of-two opened several gyms under the name Body Fit Training across Melbourne with close friend and former teammate, Matt Thomas, after their time in the AFL came to an end.

A spokesperson for BFT confirmed to Daily Mail that gym members were informed of Stewart's death via email on Saturday morning.

Two dogs that attacked a Brisbane jogger will not be put down after a council said it is pursuing tougher penalties against their owner. 

Ajay Malik, 37, was jogging through 7th Brigade Park in Chermside on Friday night when the dogs attacked, leaving him with life-threatening injuries to his face and arms.

The Brisbane real estate agent remains in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital undergoing treatment.

The dogs, named Louis and Ruby, are described as a bulldog-American Staffordshire terrier cross and a bulldog-boxer cross. 

Brisbane City Council initially ordered the dogs to be destroyed on October 17 but withdrew the notice earlier this week.

Instead, the local authority proposed they should be declared 'dangerous' dogs under Queensland law. The two animals remain at a council facility.

The decision would allow the council to pursue tougher measures against owner Layla Evans, 22, who could face a maximum penalty of $120,890 or two years' imprisonment, depending on the offence, if convicted. 

The maximum fine available under the council's local law, rather than the state legislation, is $51,810.

The former deputy leader of the Green Party has warned that the far-Left are 'clueless' about the scale of the threat that Islamist ideology poses to society.

Dr Shahrar Ali, who was deputy leader between 2014 and 2016, spoke to the Daily Mail following the passing of a resolution in the European Parliament pledging to combat Islamist entryism and the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood network across the continent.

The resolution, proposed by the European People's Party (EPP), was adopted by 381 votes to 167, with 15 abstentions.

A newly proposed law threatens to ban chewing gum in New Jersey forever. 

The Protecting Against Microplastics Act, introduced by Democrats Shama Haider and Margie Donlon, sparked fury as it also might put an end to tea bags, cutlery and other common products in the Garden State.

The two assemblywomen behind the bill proposal cited research that found that microplastics were released into the body during the first few minutes of chewing gum.

If passed, the bill would also give $3 million of taxpayer funds to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to enforce the ban, which would also target plastic plates, cutlery, containers, cleaning products and cosmetics.

While New Jersey joins a list of states trying to tackle a reduction of microplastics more broadly, this bill is the first to target specific consumer products like gum, Haider's office stated. 

14 other states – among which are California, New York and Oregon – expressed concern about the 'rapidly growing evidence' that microplastics have 'negative impact on the environment and public health.'

A promising young college student suddenly died after an unknown medical emergency, leaving her family and community heartbroken. 

Jordan Chymbor, 21, died unexpectedly last Saturday after experiencing a 'sudden medical emergency that turned tragic,' her family wrote in an online fundraiser. 

'We are still awaiting answers, and our family is heartbroken by this unexpected and devastating loss,' her family added. 

Chymbor was in her final year at the University of South Carolina and just months away from earning a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. 

The online fundraiser said Chymbor was eager to enter the medical field and had a 'bright future' ahead of her.  

She graduated from high school in Cheshire, Connecticut, a town outside of New Haven, three years ago. 

Chymbor was described in her obituary as having an 'innate talent for caring for others in a way to make them feel seen and valued by offering help, compassion, encouragement, and friendship.'

A new memo circulated by US intelligence claims that Iran is in the 'advanced stages' of plots to kill American officials in the Middle East and elsewhere. 

The news comes amid another spike in oil prices and rumors that Donald Trump may resume strikes on Tehran after the midterm elections.  

The memo, written by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton and addressed to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, suggests the information should be used as part of a continued effort to draw down personnel at US embassies. 

Clayton said his teams 'have received intelligence that Iran has substantially increased efforts to target US personnel.'

'The lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against US citizens have reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries,' Clayton wrote.

Three US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, confirmed to the Associated Press that the memo was sent to Rubio in his capacity as secretary of state and national security adviser.

Atlanta area hospitals are bracing for the worst after a school bus carrying roughly 20 high school football players overturned on a busy Georgia highway. 

A bus from Salem High School in Conyers, a suburb outside of Atlanta, flipped on Highway 138 and Old Salem Road in Rockdale County, Georgia State Patrol confirmed to the Daily Mail. 

Authorities said the scene was still 'very active.' The crash unfolded just before 11pm EDT. 

The bus was carrying 17 football players, seven trainers, two coaches and one driver. At least two medical helicopters were requested.
