Families' fury at apology letter from whining funeral boss who left bodies unburied and gave them the ashes of strangers

Families' fury at apology letter from whining funeral boss who left bodies unburied and gave them the ashes of strangers

Disgraced funeral director Robert Bush has written an apology to the hundreds of victims of his callous offending acknowledging he 'should have acted differently and much sooner.'

The undertaker, who was jailed for 20 years last week for storing at least 30 bodies at his funeral parlour in Hull and giving grieving relatives the ashes of strangers, said he 'genuinely regrets the consequences of [his] actions.'

Bush eventually admitted 67 offences, including 30 counts of preventing a lawful and decent burial, and theft from 12 charities, as well as providing bogus funeral plans to more than 200 people.

However his apology has been rejected by many victims, who have said they will 'never' be able to forgive him for his actions.

In his letter, provided to victims on Wednesday, Bush said: 'I know that many of you entrusted me and my business with the care of someone you loved during one of the most difficult times in your lives.

'I recognise that what happened has caused distress, upset and uncertainty for many families. I am deeply sorry.

'There are no words that can undo what has happened or take away the pain

Bisexual wife of female fire captain admits to her murder... 22 years after she killed her husband in exactly the same way

A bisexual California woman confessed to murdering her fire captain wife with a knife inside their home 22 years after she killed her husband in nearly identical fashion.

Yolanda Marodi, 54, admitted Tuesday inside the San Diego Superior Court in El Cajon that she had killed her partner, 49-year-old Rebecca Marodi, on February 17, 2025.

Yolanda said she had used a knife to kill Rebecca, her wife of slightly more than two years, as she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office told the Daily Mail.

Rebecca, a captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, was found with stab wounds to her neck, chest and abdomen when police were called to the couple's $950,000 Ramona four-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

Surveillance footage seemingly captured the moments leading up to Rebecca's death, as she pleaded with her wife and told her she did not want to die.

Yolanda now faces 36-years-to-life in prison for Rebecca's murder. She is scheduled to be sentenced on September 2.

The details of Rebecca's grisly murder echoed eerily similar to the way Yolanda stabbed her first partner, then-husband James J Olejniczak Jr,

Moment audacious ram raid gang reverse car through service station and steal ATM and slot machines

A masked ram raid gang were caught on video reversing their car inside a service station to steal from an ATM and slot machines.

Four men drove a black Nissan Juke down the concourse of Wetherby Services in Leeds in the early hours of July 29.

Men in balaclavas were seen leaving the car and opening its boot before heading into the services' slot machine area. The ATM machine appeared to be damaged.

North Yorkshire Police said the gang had attached a chain to the cash pay-out machine and ripped it off the wall using the car.

The force recovered the vehicle, which had been set on fire. They added the machine was still there.

Witness Rupon Miah, from south London, said 'I literally came out of the toilet and saw the car basically drive into the service station and was ramming the ATM with the car.

'I started recording after they rammed the first machine. I saw four males all get out of the car with masks on, balaclavas.

'They were just raiding the slot machine game room in the service station.

Surprising Texas city that has been named one of the most ROMANTIC in the United States

A surprising Texas city has been named one of the most romantic metropolitan areas in the United States.

Austin has been ranked third behind New York City and Nashville, Tennessee in a list of the country's most romantic cities.

The top five list, compiled by dating app Agilis, is rounded out by Chicago, Illinois in fourth place and Jacksonville, Florida in fifth.

The app company used Google search trends across 20 American cities to put the list together.

Twenty-eight popular terms including 'romantic getaways', 'date night ideas' and 'proposal locations' were tracked as part of the research.

New York City took the top spot after researchers found 212 searches related to romance per 100,000 residents.

Nashville residents looked up terms related to love 201.5 times for every 100,000 people, placing them second.

Austin meanwhile had slightly less romance searches, logging 200.1 for every 100,000 residents.

Distressing 911 call reveals 21-year-old sorority sister's chaotic final moments before she plunged to her death out Seattle apartment window

The family of a UCLA student who died after falling from the window of her Seattle apartment have questioned the circumstances surrounding her death after a friend told a 911 dispatcher she had been 'extremely intoxicated' moments before the fatal fall.

Dayanara Nicole Urbina Ruiz, 21, died on Thursday after falling from an open window at the Trailside Seattle Apartments overlooking the Burke-Gilman Trail in Seattle's University District.

Ruiz was a communications student at UCLA who was spending the summer in Seattle as a marketing intern with Amazon Web Services.

She suffered multiple blunt force injuries after unintentionally falling from the open window, according to the King County Medical Examiner.

Emergency dispatch records show a friend called 911 at about 9.19pm to report Ruiz was intoxicated, running into the street and trying to get into strangers' vehicles while the caller attempted to get her back inside the apartment.

Dispatcher notes read: 'RP'S EXTREMELY INTOX FRIEND RUNNING AROUND. RP TRYING TO GET HER BACK INSIDE TO HER APARTMENT. SUBJ TRYING TO GET INTO PEOPLE'S VEHS. RUNNING IN THE STREET. INTOX ON ALCOHOL. NO WPNS.'

While her death was ruled an accident, her family

Controversial £290,000-a-year vice chancellor of university at centre of £1million money laundering and bribery probe is sacked

The controversial £290,000-a-year vice chancellor of a university at the centre of a £1million money laundering and bribery probe has been sacked.

Professor George Holmes was fired after two decades at the head of the University of Greater Manchester, which is currently at the centre of a 'significant and complex' investigation into alleged financial irregularities.

The Rolls-Royce-driving academic was previously ridiculed for flaunting his wealth publicly after claiming vice chancellors are not paid enough – then receiving a £66,000 pay rise despite his institution being ranked outside Britain's top 100 universities.

The move comes after three people were arrested last month as part of a police probe into potential fraudulent activity at what was previously known as the University of Bolton.

Today his dismissal was welcomed by the local MP who said it would enable the university to focus on 'restoring confidence' at a crucial time of year for recruiting students.

'Now that we know that George Holmes is no longer the Vice Chancellor of the University, it is vital that the institution focuses on restoring confidence, ensuring strong governance, and maintaining its commitment to students, staff

Little respite for drought-hit Britain with more heat health alerts issued as temperatures set to hit 33C by next week

Little respite for drought-hit Britain with more heat health alerts issued as temperatures set to hit 33C by next week

Britain is set to boil in yet another heatwave next week as the country's brief period of respite from searing heat could turn out to be short-lived.

Temperatures dropped down closer to averages for this time of year from Wednesday, but they are expected to rise again from Saturday.

A sixth heatwave of 2026 will arrive by next Tuesday, with large areas of central and southern England likely to see highs of 30C to 33C, Met Office forecasters said.

Yellow heat health alerts have been issued for the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, and London.

The warnings, issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) will come into force at 9am on Saturday, August 8 and end at 9pm on Tuesday, August 11.

Before then, thundery showers are set to batter the North and Scotland – but central and southern England are likely to miss out on most of the much-needed rain.

Much of the country has already been left bone-dry after two record-breaking heatwaves in May and June, which led to more than 2,600 excess deaths.

The Med is too hot for swimmers! Tourists say they can't cool down as water temperatures hit exceptionally high levels

Holidaymakers have said that the Mediterranean Sea is so hot they can't even go for a dip to cool off.

Tourists visiting Mallorca have reported that the sea is offering little respite from the heat that is enveloping Europe.

One German tourist told Mallorca Magazin: 'The sea is so incredibly warm! This isn't normal!

'I even swam out further, but the water just didn't get any cooler.'

Temperatures in the seas around Mallorca in August sit, on average, around 26C.

But AEMET, Spain's national meteorological agency, said this morning that the sea surface temperatures just off the coast of Mallorca reached a sweltering 33.02C on Wednesday.

If confirmed, this would beat the previous temperature record set in the Mediterranean, 31.96C, which was set in 2024 off the coast of the Egyptian city of El-Arish.

The record before that was set in 2023, when the mercury hit 28.71C in July of that year.

Urban explorer aged just eighteen critically ill after falling TWENTY stories while exploring disused grain elevator and landing on beam

A young urban explorer has been left in critical condition after falling about twenty stories from an abandoned grain elevator in Minnesota

Ash Ranallo, whose full name is Lilly Maria 'Ash' Ronallo-Korbel, and several others trespassed inside a disused property known as the Checkerboard Grain Elevator in Minneapolis on Monday around 8.30pm, police said.

The 18-year-old, who goes by male pronouns, landed on a beam outside of the grain elevator after plunging, the Minneapolis Police Department said.

The Minneapolis Fire Department used a truck ladder to reach the Ash and provided medical emergency care at the scene before he was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials stated.

'This is an individual out having fun, seeking adventure and made a bad decision that resulted in life-threatening injuries. It is miraculous that [the teen] is alive,' Sgt. Garrett Parten said during a press conference on the incident.

Ash, who appears to frequently participate in daring activities according to his social media pages, is now fighting for his life after his heart stopped for about 20 minutes at the hospital, his mother, Nicole Emery, said in an update on Tuesday.

MAGA civil war erupts after Tucker Carlson pushes policies for new US political party that could upend Republican base

Republicans are divided over the creation of a new political party helmed by Tucker Carlson that is meant to overthrow the MAGA movement created by President Donald Trump

Some of the President's loudest conservative critics, including the former Fox News host, former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, Congressman Thomas Massie and former Trump counterterrorism chief Joe Kent, convened over the weekend to discuss a new political movement

Greene posted a photo of the group sitting at Carlson's cabin in Maine, writing: 'We said no more foreign wars, and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he's betrayed us all.'

'Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. The movement has begun.'

Immediately, outrage over the group of 'turncoats' creating a new political platform rippled through conservative online circles.

The White House, Meghan McCain, Laura Loomer and many other prominent conservative influencers bashed the gathering of 'traitors.' McCain noted

Alleged serial rapist doctor spent 20 years on the run from justice until silly mistake brought him down

An ex-doctor accused of raping a string of women aboard luxury boats in Rhode Island was snared after more than 20 years on the run thanks to a silly mistake.

Ronald Fischer was found living under an alias in New York last month after he obtained a new job with a pharmaceutical firm, which shared his headshot online.

The 70-year-old disappeared in 2005 before the end of his trial for an attack on college professor and mom-of-four Cheryl Gingerich two years prior. He was ultimately found guilty in absentia but never sentenced as he could not be found.

Investigators believe Fischer's bold attempt to restart his medical career ultimately led to his arrest after he obtained the prominent position at Immix Biopharma.

The company shared a photograph of the former anesthesiologist online to commemorate his new role, which resulted in a tip-off to the FBI.

The agency alerted local law enforcement and officers intercepted Fischer aboard his $1.4 million custom-built boat, the Silver Lining, in New Jersey, under the guise of a routine stop by the Coast Guard.

American couple who 'adopted' Afghan migrant accused of stuffing British missionary's body in suitcase break silence to tell how they took traumatized teen into their home

An American couple who took in an Afghan migrant who's now accused of killing a British woman and stuffing her body in a suitcase in Greece have told of their disbelief over his arrest – and say he never gave them any trouble aside from teenage 'rebellion.'

The husband and wife, who asked not to be named, told the Daily Mail they were 'heartbroken' to learn from a mutual friend that Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, had been arrested over the murder of Elisabeth Jane Ross, 38, a Scottish Christian missionary who was in Athens volunteering for a charity.

The Christian couple said they cannot reconcile the sickening charges against Ahmadzai with the teenager who lived in their home for almost two years on the Greek island of Lesvos, where they were doing humanitarian aid work in the Moria refugee camp.

They effectively 'adopted' 16-year-old Ahmadzai, who was living and working in the camp as a translator for relief groups, in 2016 after he lost everything. His tent burned down in a fire that broke out during 'fighting' amongst the migrants.

'When camp burned down,' his adopted father told the Daily Mail, 'I brought
