DeSantis bashes Vivek after midterm rout

Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., this week excoriated Vivek Ramaswamy over his failed campaign for Ohio governor, saying that he "shot himself in the foot" and failed to resonate with voters in Ohio.

Ramaswamy lost his bid for Ohio governor on Tuesday evening to Democratic candidate Amy Acton. He first won national prominence running for president in the 2024 GOP primary. He was briefly named co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), but did not ever formally enter the administration, instead opting to run for governor.

"Ohio is a working-class state, very blue-collar. You know, Vivek, he's like a tech guy, did this Alzheimer's drug, and he wants to bring in people, foreign worker on visas," he added. "That is not the type of person that is gonna sell ... you've gotta meet the voters where they are on some of this stuff."

Ramaswamy faced a litany of controversies while on the campaign trail, including a series of posts he made insinuating that American workers could not compete with foreign immigrants due to a superior mindset that drew considerable backlash.

He also took flak for an ad featuring Acton's estranged mother, whom the family said abandoned the state with her husband, who was accused of raping Acton when she was a child.
