A huge earthquake hit western Colombia this morning.
This was a 7.4-magnitude earthquake, and outlets are reporting "at least 22 deaths," which seems to be a conservative number considering some of the other estimates I've seen on the web. We'll update the number here when it's clearer.
The quake hit at 7:34 a.m. Monday near San José del Palmar on the Pacific coast. Dozens of structures have collapsed in Cali, one of Colombia's largest cities, leaving many trapped inside. That number is only a fraction of what we're looking at nationwide in Colombia.
