Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has been reelected to serve a second term in office, defeating Republican State Senator Christine Drazan in the state's midterm elect

ion.

On Tuesday, with 75% of the total votes accounted for, Kotek (D-Ore.) won 795,725 votes, or 51% while Drazan (R-Ore.) received 699,400 votes or 45%, according to the Associated Press.

Kotek pledged to her constituents to lower the cost of living by expanding infant and toddler child care, and by increasing affordable housing and down-payment assistance. On her campaign website, she cited her administration's efforts to help nearly 26,000 households stay housed, noting that Oregon "outpaced the nation in new housing starts, up 11.3%."

Her platform emphasized fighting "Trump's price tag," meaning she would oppose President Donald Trump's tariffs and restrictions on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

To aid the economy, she proposed establishing a new Department of Commerce to "enhance Oregon's competitiveness, coordination, and private-sector partnerships to expand economic growth."

She also promised to maintain "Oregon's trusted and secure vote-by-mail system."

Kotek's campaign platform included ensuring "every person can live, work, go to school, and raise a family safely and with dignity, no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, religion or disability — including defending our LGBTQ+ community from federal attacks."

Drazan, who did not appear to receive an endorsement from President Trump, planned to lower the cost of living by issuing a "Day One Affordability Executive Order" (EO), according to her campaign website. She also vowed to repeal Kotek's Climate Protection Program EO, which she claimed "has imposed heavy financial burdens on working families, driven up utility and gas prices and threatened jobs."

The GOP nominee planned to veto any new tax increases, reform the Corporate Activity Tax (CAT) to reduce hidden fees, and "cut taxes by increasing Oregon's standard deduction to better reflect today's cost-of-living pressures."

The "Drazan Plan" also included revitalizing Oregon's economy by prioritizing affordable energy, improving the management of the state's natural resources, reducing unnecessary regulations, investing in local infrastructure and establishing a Small Business Bill of Rights.

Similar to her Democrat opponent, she also promised to prioritize housing availability and affordability by reducing regulatory barriers that create construction delays.
