LIV Golf 2.0 Hit With Major Blow After BC Partners Withdraws From Financing Deal: REPORT

London-based investment firm BC Partners is withdrawing from its deal to make a $300 million investment in LIV Golf 2.0, and if the league doesn't find a last-minute buyer, it will most likely undergo a liquidation of its assets, according

to a Wednesday report from ESPN, citing sources.

BC Partners had plans to be the replacement for Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund as the primary financier of LIV Golf, but with many of the league's top golfers not coming back in 2027, the firm has decided to pull out of the deal, according to ESPN. One of ESPN's sources added that the league had meetings with a large number of golfers who had committed to play in LIV 2.0 for the 2027 season — around 30 were committed while another 10 were still contemplating — but BC Partners nixed the deal when negotiations went on too long.

A small number of golfers have publicly stated that they intend to play in LIV 2.0, but the short list didn't feature any of the marquee names from the league. Top talent such as Sergio Garcia, Jon Rahm, Ian Poulter, and Tyrrell Hatton have stated that they weren't making a return and will compete on the DP World Tour in 2027.

The league has a hearing Thursday with U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Michael B. Kaplan, which could reveal additional information.
