Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Will Be Placed On Injured Reserve Due To Needing Thumb Surgery

Lamar Jackson can't catch a damn break.

The quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens will be required to undergo surgery after suffering a right thumb injury and the franchise will be placing him on injured reserve, said head coach Jesse Minter

following his team's 36-10 defeat against the Buffalo Bills.

Jackson's injury happened on the quarterback's first play in the game Sunday. While making a throw, his right hand was hit by Buffalo outside linebacker Greg Rousseau's hand while the Bills defender was trying to knock down the pass.

Immediately, Jackson looked at his hand and ventured over to the sideline. The two-time NFL MVP had his right hand wrapped and being held by an athletic trainer while going into the tunnel. (RELATED: Colts Willing To Trade Jonathan Taylor, Already In Active Talks With Teams: REPORT)

Things got even worse for Baltimore in second quarter action, with backup quarterback Tyler "Snoop" Huntley also being forced to leave the game after suffering a right toe injury. On the day, Huntley was 2-for-4 with zero yards. In the third quarter, he was ruled out of the game.

From there, the Ravens had to shift to their third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano, with the undrafted rookie out of Connecticut finishing the contest throwing 10-of-21 for 91 yards and one interception.

After missing the last three games due to a high ankle injury, the contest was Jackson's first one back. Needless to say, it's one hell of a blow for Baltimore, as the team has scored just five touchdowns in the prior 14 quarters without Jackson.

Give me my Miami Dolphins rebuild over whatever the hell is going on in Baltimore … what a crisis.
