Lewiston Woman Charged After Firing Multiple Rounds During Pine Street Dispute

LEWISTON — A 22-year-old Lewiston woman is facing multiple felony charges after police say she fired several rounds during a street altercation Thursday evening near Pine and Howard streets.

According to the Lewiston Police Department, officers responded at 5:36 p.m. on February 26 to reports of gunshots in the area. When they arrived, officers located several witnesses who described an argument that had just taken place in the street moments before the shots were fired.

Witnesses told police that a woman involved in the dispute pulled out a firearm and fired multiple rounds at a group she had been arguing with. Investigators recovered several shell casings from the roadway consistent with those accounts.

No one was injured during the incident. However, police said several bullets struck a nearby parked vehicle, causing damage.

A witness provided investigators with cellphone video footage of the suspect. Police later identified the woman as 22-year-old Leyla Isaak. Authorities said they subsequently located Isaak and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

Isaak has been charged with aggravated reckless conduct, five counts of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and criminal mischief related to the damage caused to the vehicle.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. David Allen at [email protected].

Thursday’s arrest quickly brought resolution to what initially began as a “shots fired” call that temporarily shut down part of Pine Street and underscores continued concerns about public safety in Lewiston’s downtown corridor.
