Messy private school mum behind Reddam House WhatsApp scandal stuns with revelation about her marriage after being accused of 'cracking on' to famous dad and sending wild texts

Messy private school mum behind Reddam House WhatsApp scandal stuns with revelation about her marriage after being accused of 'cracking on' to famous dad and sending wild texts

A Bondi brouhaha between two parents at an elite private school has spiralled out of control, with shocking accusations being hurled and talk of police getting involved.

Earlier this month, mother-of-two Meghan Byrne accused fellow school parent Jeremy Levitt, a prominent Jewish businessman and occasional TV personality, of spreading rumours she had been 'cracking on to him'.

Their WhatsApp exchange - in which a furious Ms Byrne crudely referenced Mr Levitt's religious background, and he in turn accused her of being drunk - was later leaked to reporter Liam Mendes of The Australian.

Both parents' children attend Reddam House, a co-educational private school in Sydney's eastern suburbs - home to many members of the Jewish community - with fees upwards of $49,000 for Year 12 students.

Last week, Byrne was reported to police over the allegedly mocking texts; however, NSW Police detectives did not believe the threshold for criminal action was met.

Nonetheless, Mr Levitt is understood to now be seeking a private AVO from the court.

After the dispute was leaked to the press, Ms Byrne, a Bondi-based artist originally from the Blue Mountains, has gone to ground, deactivating her website and social media accounts - but, in a tearful and frantic phone call with the Mail this week, she still insisted the damning messages were taken out of context.

The heated WhatsApp exchange began when Ms Byrne sent a series of incoherent messages to Mr Levitt on the evening of February 8, accusing him of telling mutual acquaintances that she had been 'cracking on' to him.

'Apparently I was cracking on to you,' she wrote.

'Don't hatch your chickens mate... Couldn't think of anything worse... I had banter.

'But being attracted to you is beyond repulsive.'

Mr Levitt appeared to deny saying anything of the sort about Ms Byrne, responding: 'What are you talking about... That is disgusting.'

He then asked, 'Can I ask if you are drunk right now?' at which point the exchange turned even more venomous.

'Can I ask if you have your special hat on?... The holy one?' Ms Byrne asked, seeming to make reference to Jewish religious attire.

Mr Levitt, who describes himself as 'not particularly' religious, warned Ms Byrne that she 'picked the wrong time' to make such a remark.

Mr Levitt then tried to end the conversation by saying, 'Stop drinking and go to bed,' which only further enraged Ms Byrne.

Ms Byrne denied ever 'cracking on' to Mr Levitt. The company CEO seemed baffled by the suggestion he had ever claimed such a thing and, in turn, accused Ms Byrne of being drunk. (Above and below: a mock-up of the messages that were exchanged on February 8)

The exchange turned venomous after Mr Levitt suggested Ms Byrne had been drinking. She made a crass reference to Jewish religious attire ('Can I ask if you have your special hat on?')

Through tears, Ms Byrne told the Mail on Monday that the WhatsApp messages had been taken out of context.

She also insisted she was not 'cracking on' to Mr Levitt, who is the founder of online legal service provider PodProperty and tradie marketplace ServiceSeeking.com.au.

Clearly in an emotional state, Ms Byrne went on to confirm to the Mail that she was separated from her husband, and that she had previously confided in Mr Levitt and his wife, Catalina, about the breakdown of her 25-year marriage.

'I myself have been going through a divorce, but that does not mean that I was sexually interested in him,' she said.

'It's completely false,' she added.

Curiously, Ms Byrne went on to allege that Mr Levitt - who has been described as a 'serial entrepreneur' - runs a chatbot business whose clients include OnlyFans creators.

It's unclear if this is true. We could not find a website matching that company's description, nor do we suggest there's anything wrong with running such a business.

Ms Byrne continued: 'It is the children that are suffering and mine are really traumatised by this - they are in the cool group [at] school.'

Before the Mail became aware that Ms Byrne was going through a divorce, our reporter attempted to speak with her husband, Stuart Mullins, near the marital home in Bondi Beach.

After taking their son to school on Monday in a gunmetal grey BMW X3, Mr Mullins appeared to take a heated phone call.

There was no sign of Ms Byrne at the address and it is possible she is either living elsewhere or maintaining a low profile following the controversy with Mr Levitt.

When the Mail tried to question Mr Mullins about Mr Levitt's suggestion that his wife had been drinking before sending the wild texts, he bristled and stormed off.

Meanwhile, the saga looks to be far from over.

As mentioned earlier, Mr Levitt now intends to apply for a private AVO. He has also escalated matters by making a complaint to Anti-Discrimination NSW.

Ms Byrne is no stranger to AVO proceedings. Police applied for an apprehended violence order to protect Ms Byrne from Mr Mullins in June 2022, but when the matter came before Waverley Local Court in August the following year, it was dismissed and withdrawn. On the same day, Mr Mullins was found not guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

In September 2022, she fronted Downing Centre Local Court on a drink-driving charge, for which she was convicted, fined $1,000 and sentenced to a two-year community corrections order that included 200 hours of community service work.

She was further disqualified from driving for eight months and had to have an alcohol interlock device fitted to her vehicle for two years.

Jeremy Levitt could not be reached for comment. Reddam House was also contacted.
